Post-LD ideas

Sunday, January 8th, 2017 7:13 am

Do you ever feel like this: LD is already over, but you got an idea which fits the theme? We had that feeling multiple times. And one more weekend you make one more solo LD… cause it is fun, isn’t it?

After LD35: Two buttons

A game where level changes depending on your direction (link to demo).

gameplay2

After LD36: Shapeshifter

A game where you’re a shapeshifter chess figure which transforms into just killed figure (link to demo).

gameplay3_2

A «Sheep-shifter» – where you need to pass sheeps through forest full of wolfs and you have a beam which transforms your sheeps into uncontrollable monsters (link to demo).

gameplay4

After LD37: One Room

A game where you need to protect room with baby from noise of neighbours… by smashing them (link to demo).

These are just demos, but do you think some of them could become interesting games?

When an entry becomes much more

Hi everyone!

Last summer I made my first Ludum Dare entry, it was in the #36 and the Compo section indeed. It was a great experience and I was amazed by all the feedback I got. And I didn’t want to waste it.

These months I’ve been dedicating some free time to adapt and improve the game and I’ve just proudly pubished it today for Google Play.

I’ll leave you the link to the game and some related stuff.

And Other Alternative Ways of Saying “I’m In”!

Can’t wait to get started, now. New site looks amazing, and I’m looking forwards to seeing what it’ll be able to do.

As for what I’ll plan on working with, I’m planning on the same tools as I always use, i.e.:

  • Unity, game engine
  • Visual Studio, IDE
  • Paint.NET, 2D Graphics
  • Inkscape, 2D Vector Graphics
  • GIMP, Alternative to Paint.NET for anything it can’t do
  • Chiptone, SFX
  • Beepbox, Music

Hoping to fare better this time around, as I’ve been spending time learning since the last LD, and have learned a number of useful things that I think will benefit me greatly. Unity also recently made their line renderers not suck, and things not sucking is pretty undeniably fantastic. Lastly, I finally found a way to prevent tiny gaps between sprites, which is nothing short of a blessing.

Anyway, it’s time to get prepared. Good luck to everybody!

First time doing a Ludum Dare or any kind of Game Jam. Hopefully this jam will help get the gears moving again, so I can work on my old projects afterwards with a fresh perspective.

Using Unity Engine, Gimp, Blender and whatever audio tools I end up finding useful 😛

alexmugford and I are ready for our second Ludum Dare! 😀

Excited to get jamming again — this time we’ll be writing our game in C on top of the Doomsday Engine, and using DoomBuilder and SLADE for level and wad editing!

Best of luck to everyone, looking forward to seeing what everybody comes up with! 😀

This will be my 3rd LD (3rd time’s a charm)… this time I plan on finishing the compo in time!

First time I used Unity, second time I used LÖVE, this time I think I’ll give GameMakerStudio 2 a shot.

Hi, everyone. It’ll be my second time entering compo, maybe this time i’ll do something better.

I guess i’ll be using c#/xna with some my old code or flixel, paint.net and graphicsgale for graphics, and maybe this time some free tool for sound.

Good luck to everyone!

I’m in~~ basecode too

i'm in!!!

I used this gif in my last “I’m in” post, but ended up not entering. I’m determined to actually finish something this time! I’m pretty excited.

I’ll be using LOVE with my own port of flashpunk on top, FL studio (probably) for music, labchirp for sound, and ASEprite for art.

Here’s my basecode. It’s a port of flashpunk for the LOVE framework, a general purpose level editor I wrote, and some odds and ends.

Hey all,

I’m in for this one. I’ll be using Unity (because I f#cking love C#) and InkScape for graphics. This time I promise not to make another Alien game, I don’t even like aliens that much.. but all my previous entries have seemed to revolve around them.

Good luck and have fun all.

Super excited, with a team of three on our first jam.

We’ve got and arist a sound guy and I’m making the game. We’ll probably be using either Unreal, or game maker, but the jury is still out on that. I look forward to playing your gaemz and I hope we can put something foreward worth playing (if not, my bad). Best of luck to everyone out there, we’ll see ya at the finish line.

After 3 days of intensive Game Maker training I’m ready for this Ludum Dare !

This time I will use the Game O Verre game controller for my game (as I already did for LD 34 but… that was not ready yet ^^ )

http://www.instructables.com/id/Game-O-Verre-Play-With-Your-Glasses-DIY-Version/

This is a Game O Verre prototype !

The Game O Verre is a game controller that permit you to play by only touching your glass and drinking in it, and with up to five glass for peoples who have friends (or very thirsty) !
I hope I’ll find something funny to do with it this week end. :)

If you want more info on the Game O Verre (and his future crowdfunding campaign) you can check here : http://www.instructables.com/id/Game-O-Verre-Play-With-Your-Glasses-DIY-Version/

You can also make your own copy of it if you want, it’s open ! 😉
