Added a simple research system and a second player. Game isn’t done yet and I’m just not feeling it. I’ll probably clean it up a little bit and enter it in the jam, but it’s a little too shitty and barebones for me to kill myself trying to get it in for the compo.

Just added a second player to my game. What are sane multiplayer platformer controls for two players on one keyboard? Any suggestions are helpful!
I have city building and some sounds in, but there still really isn’t any gameplay. At the very least I need to add the level up\tech system, resource system and another player to fight. With 8 hours left I could easily make the compo deadline, especially if I crunch, but I’m still going to take it at a relaxed pace. I’ll submit the game to the jam if its not quite where I want it to be. Right now it being a local multiplayer game will make it stronger (I think), but also make it less likely that people try it and give it votes.
Have kind of a shitty platformer going, but haven’t made much progress. I have some grandiose plans to make a combination of civilization, joust and twinkle star sprites where you are building cities, on different worlds\islands, collecting resources and researching new technology to level up your dude while fighting other civilizations. I will probably not complete any of this :).
I haven’t entered a game in Ludumdare 48 since “Build the level you play”, and the last real game I entered was in 2006 with LD48 #8 (Swarms). I was an entrant LD48 #1 (Guardian, I missed Indirect Interaction) and figured it would be a great time to return. I have nothing to prove and don’t expect to have a decent ranking, especially with all the competition, just gonna have fun any make something ridiculous.
Probably going to use Flixel or Flashpunk, some combination of photoshop, graphics gale and MS Paint for graphics, bfxr for sound.
