Beneath the Mushroom exclusive Beta!

I now have a playable version of my game, for those of you out there who have Linux.




Controls and stuff:

Select the circle thingy with left mouse button, control it with right mouse button.

Your goal is to absorb/collect/consume all the resources.


In the top-left corner you can see the selected circles energy amount.

The 3 buttons in the top-left corner are actions you can assign to the circle thingy.

You can see each actions cost. (first action is nothing, second action is dig thru wall, third action is dig thru enemy mushroom)


It costs energy to spread, but going on a white area is free.

The mushroom turns resources into energy and gives the circle thingys energy eventually.

Finally, you can restart the level at any time using the spinny arrow button.

My mushroom game is almost complete, well it has to be.

I have to do other work before tomorrow, so ill probably just clean it up a bit.


Right now you can play 2 levels, you win by collecting all the resources.

There is no sound or music, and no menus.

gotta get shroom food

Even thought it isnt as complete as i hoped, I am kinda proud :)

The idea and design is something that i didnt think i would be able to come up with.

So for now, see you later. :)

Yup, thats my take on the theme, lets hope i get stuff done this weekend thought.

Im using C++ with SDL2 on Crunchbang linux and Kolourpaint as my graphics-program :) .

Its probably going to be a case of googling what I need, when I need it with SDL2 (I have been using SDL 1.2 before).


Yup, so my plan is to have some kind of spores running around and spreading. You should be able to assign actions to the spores, the spores take resources to execute actions.

One action is the “spread action” which adds pixels around the spore, the “spreaded pixels” are areas in which the spores can go.

Hopefuly  future pics will make my idea more clear.

The yellow thing is a spore, the white stuff is spread stuff, the red stuff on the spore is a selection.

You use the mouse to control the spores.

And heres my desktop. As you can see notch uses my other screen.

Counting pixels and typing all the relevatn stuff into textfiles is “great!”, perfect when you are tierd.

Nope, it could not handle the filesize.

Well, im probably done now, not much time or energy left, ill just upload what i might hand in here:

Im making progress.

Whats new:

Title screen.

Level collision(not perfect but works)

Loading relations between pressureplates and doors from a text file.


Smaller window.


Pushable boxes.


Blocks that display a messagebox if you walk in to it.

Im probably going to be done with the programming part, maybe.

Then theres the level design..

So my idea for the game is going to be:
You are alone, in a co-op setting :) alla alone and doing co-op puzzles, a bit depressing..

Im quite happy with the graphics of the walls.

Pressure plates!(with sounds too!)

Now i just need to convert .it files into .wav files or something that sdl_mixer can play, anyone know any good way of converting?

This is my first attempt.

It will be hard making sound effects and music.

Language: C++ with SDL

Tools: mspaint.exe, Visual C++ Express 2008 and undecided audio tools

This will probably be a bit hard, because i usually think a week before even starting to program anything. :)
