Just finished publishing my game. It’s called “Spindulum” and can be played here.

It’s a minimalistic action game about rotating, gobbling, growing and exploding.

Coded in this rainy Monday here, in São Paulo, because the idea came really late.

Made with Haxe/OpenFL, with sounds recorded and performed in FL Studio.

Dedicated to my fiancée! ♥

P.s.: It’s a bit hard.

So, my idea came a bit late, since I had work and other things to do, I had to do everything today, basically. The idea came only because of a present that my fiancée gave me in the year we started dating.

Decided to do everything in Haxe/OpenFl again, with sounds recorded in FL Studio. The graphics are all generated during runtime.

It’s a minimalistic action game about collecting, growing and exploding to advance.

It’s called “Spindulum”, and it’s a bit hard.

I really wanted 2 button controls, and growing might be a nice addition too, but I still have no idea about what to make or what to use. Will sketch something on paper and try to make an accessible idea because, hey, 2 buttons give us this opportunity, right? 😉

In it for the Jam, because I didn’t have much time to practice coding and stuff. This will be my 3rd LD.

Hope the theme will be a better one for me than last time on LD. I’m aiming to just improve a bit over the average of my first 2 results, no rush and no pressure. Gonna have my fun time with it! 😛

I’m still deciding the tools of the trade, from the ones below:

  • Engine: Haxe/OpenFL, Clickteam Fusion, GameMaker, Custom JS Engine (writing together with @ruerobgames);
  • Graphics: Mischief, Tilecraft, PyxelEdit, Spriter, Inchworm DS, Inkscape, Livebrush;

Audio is probably the only thing I’ve decided now, and I’ll use my good old FLStudio with some Audacity or Wavosaur.

Hope we’ll all have fun making games!

So, results came in and it looks like my results were worse than my first time here (LD#32). I was expecting this, because I had some hard time with the theme, the jam version has lots of bugs, the difficulty level is very high and it was my first “finished” project on Clickteam Fusion, but I’m still VERY PROUD of this game. :)

Thanks to everyone who played my game or just visited my page! :3 Your rating and opinions are really important, so I can see how I’m doing and what can I do to improve my works.

I’m looking forward to the next LD! 😉 And, while I wait for it, I’ll be taking part on Mini-LD and 1 Game a Month Jam, to practice a bit, besides work on my other projects, so we might bump into each other soon! And, also, there’s twitter! ;D

This is a story about how I came from a “lasagna monster” type of game into my own abstract/narrative platformer.

So, I tried bug fixing my game, but to fix those I’d have to do a lot and that would change a bit of the game, so I decided upon leaving my original version on LD, for judging purposes, with all the bugs, mistyped words and issues, as I want to be judged upon my work during the Jam. :)

I’ve reworked the game in a post-jam version with reworked controls, less wobbly camera, better hitboxes and (not so much) easier reworked levels (mostly because of controls 😛 ).

YEAH! I survived my 2nd LD!

The game didn’t come out quite well as I wanted, the idea came up pretty late, and I ended up doing/redoing things in the last 24hours between (lots of) work.

It was quite an experience with Clickteam Fusion and, even though unfinished, and a bit cliché, I liked the result. Particularly the SFX and music. :) Next time I’ll do better.

I’d like to dedicate this to my GF, because she gave me part of the inspiration by talking about the mirror and also gave me A LOT OF ENERGY to keep it up and don’t give up! :) I LOVE YOU, GF! ♥

Real life work is f*cking everything here right now. Just got started with some basic platforming on CF2.5.

Most of the controls are done. Will focus on graphics and storytelling right now.

Thankfully, CF2.5 is really easy and straight forward to use. I wouldn’t be able to do this by hand as I wanted originally. :/

Let’s see what will come out of this. Probablt just a rough sketch, but I can see how I can improve on this idea later on. :3

So I decided to work on most of the soundtrack before working with Fusion, and here goes another roughly recorded/mixed track. Again with an iPad/AmpKit/FLStudio.

Might be helpful when creating the art…:P

I think my game might be waaay shorter than I wanted. Mostly because I won’t have too much time to work on it. >_<

So, the first thing I did for my game was part of the soundtrack. Just recorded a few tracks with the guitar on an iPad, using AmpKit, exported to FLStudio and did a quick mix. It’s shitty, because I’m a bad composer, guitar player and producer, but it’s here. :)

So, my first day progress is still on 10%. And this time there are no puns, no cute characters and funny elements.

The idea came really late, so I dediced to use Clickteam Fusion 2.5 Developer, since I can export it to HTML5 for easy access for everyone and rapid prototyping. Will probably start just tomorrow, though, since it’s 23h right now.

My idea came thanks to my girlfriend and after seeing two things when I went to the supermarket with my parents:

1 – A mother slapping her daughter because she lost her temper;

2 – A couple not paying too much attention to the fact that their daughter (less than 5/6 y.o. apparently) is “playing” very dangerously with a plastic bag in the head;

The monster doesn’t have to be ugly, hairy and disgusting. We’re all monsters to a certain degree and only our own selves can defeat this monster, by facing it and accepting all we’ve done and try to become better humans. Of course, not everyone will notice how monstrous we’ve become and try to face it. Some of us will only face it (very much probably) only when the end is near (or in the afterlife?).

And it’s not only about children, it happens with everything in our lives. Parents, family members, friends, in love, at work, everything, really.

Since I won’t have too much time, art dept. will be lacking and mechanics will be minimum. Will try to focus on the storytelling instead. Mostly just a 2d platformer with no obstacles (not much) and with some meaning. Soundtrack is in my head and I’ll record it with my guitar at the last minute. 😛

I hope I can finish this idea and expand upon it after LD ends. :)

20:34pm, I’m still in and I still have no clue on what I’m going to use/do, and I’m sleepy.


I wanted to code in Haxe, but didn’t have time to practice. So I might go fot the “easy” route, with GameMaker, Clickteam Fusion or Stencyl.

For graphics and audio I’m going to use whatever tool feels right for the theme/idea.

Still, the shortlist for everything, until I decide:

Engine: Haxe/OpenFl, ClickTeam Fusion Dev, GameMaker Pro, Stencyl

Graphics: Photoshop Elements, PyxelEdit, ProMotion, Mischief, Expression Design, Inkscape, TileCraft, ASEprite, Tiled, GraphicsGale, Krita, CorelDRAW

Audio: FLStudio, Sonar, SunVox, EnergyXT, Skale, Tracktion

If I use Haxe, I’ll probably use some of the code from my previous entry and the shitty haxedump from my test projects, both are on my GitHub (also with an empty repo for this LD): http://github.com/yuigoto/

Besides this code, I’ll probably use something premade for my own logo. 😛

I’m in, for the 2nd time! 😛

No big ambitions for this one, will try to keep it simple because the first time I thought about too many things and ended up with just a sketch of what I really wanted.

The same way I didn’t know what I was going to use, I still don’t know what I’m going to use this time. Might be one of these (or none of them):

  • Engine: Clickteam Fusion, Stencyl, GameMaker or Haxe/OpenFL;
  • Audio: FL Studio, iPad + AmpKit + Guitar, sfxr;
  • Graphics: PyxelEdit, ProMotion, Mischief, TileCraft, CorelDRAW, Spriter;

I hope I can properly finish work until LD starts. 😛

So, LD#32 already ended, it was my first time, a great learning experience and it was a blast for me, I hope was a blast for everyone too. :)

Since it was my first LD, I didn’t expect to place high in the rankings, and I’d be pretty happy with just people playing my game and leaving some feedback (be it good or bad). But I was quite surprised with the results, because it’s way better than I thought it would be.

My entry still has a long list of improvements needed in overall performance, collisions and more things that were pointed by the players. I’ve also a list of all the things I wanted to put in the game but couldn’t. I’d be pretty happy by placing in 1000th, 2000th or even 1000000th place, because the most valuable thing for me (besides the experience) was the game being played and the comments written (best prize ever :3).

I’ll try to improve my work and turn this entry into a full game (after the game I’m currently working on, Unfair Puzzle), while treating all the feedback received with the utmost care! And I hope everyone will be able to play this “full, improved and expanded” version of “Berry”. 😛


I didn’t dig too much into how “Coolness” worked until the jam finished. I know it had something to do about voting and rating, but I didn’t think it would give me 100%, really. I tried rating most of the games I played and all the games from everyone who played my entry, between my work and real life stuff, and give the ratings on how I sincerely felt about the game. But I think I could have left better written feedback, though, even more for the games with the least ratings I went for. Most of my comments feel a bit rushed and repetitive, but because the last few weeks I had a lot of work to do. So I will try to improve’em if possible. :)

Anyway, thanks for everyone, organizers, developers, players and thanks for the nice games you put out here! 😀
