“Truly magical cat” – family game

We’re done. I think this is the best Ludum Dare i ever had – we made this game together with my wife and, suddenly, it was a perfect time. Never thought we can work together in so productive way.

This is a third jam in my life with a platformer done. At the same time this is the third platformer i made in my life. At the same time my wife is super god damn cool (as for me) in lowpoly modelling and illusrations (please, tell this to her in comments).

The only bad (and good at the same time) thing i see is the feeling of weak, fragile platformers i create. Feels like you press something somewhere not in time and the whole game crumbles. But, as i said, that’s good – i have to something to work out.

So, well, Ludum Dare, thank you again for a new portion of good emotions, drive and fun. Love you all, people.

While mechanics and stuff is almost done, visual style is still the best thing to war for. However we feel ok about what it looks like now (almost, almost). Girl will be more crumpled tomorrow. That – a guy, a cat and all that stuff. I hope and pray for us to finish the game in time.

As i had to predict, we’re making a game about love, cats and all that. Well, that’s ok, that’s how we live.

So, puzzle-platformer about George and Jenn is in progress. Lowpoly cubic cats, dogs, people, hearts, hugs, houses, garages and trees.

Screens. I wish we have them… :)

Never thought i’ll use that “we`re” here. But hell yes, this time i will do gamedev with my wife, she’s a 3d-modeller (actually we like to think she is, as well as we like to think i’m a gamedeveloper).

This Ludum Dare was one of the hardest for me. Not sure if the theme was too specific, or i was to relaxed, or the autumn is coming and my mood depends. Maybe i’m not right but tis time there was too much depressive posts from other people droping the contest byt the end of the first day.

Nevertheless, game is done. As always, i did something quite new for me: new style, new mechanics, new mood in game.
I realized i never made a platformer (while quite a lot of people do them for LD).
I realized i’ve never tried to do some childish funny adventuretime-ish style and setting.
And here it is, made and done, childish funny and simple platformer “We’re connected”:

Good morning (ok, i`ve got 10:14 here).

I have to say i was hating the theme at 9:30, but now i`m full of energy and ideas to make the game “They`re all connected!”.

This Ludum Dare is number 4 for me and i can`t wait to start.

BTW start in my timezone is 5 AM and i think i really love those early LD mornings.

My stuff as always: Construct 2, Photoshop, sfxr and guitar.

I think the game is done.
You can play it in your browser or download an app for windows, linux and osX.

This game is not mine. I mean, that is totally not my graphic style, not “my” mechanics and genre. But this is really great experience and new emotions. So… Yay! Yet another interesting Ludum Dare!

What is done this time:
New mechanics learnt;
Flat design style… probed;
An electric guitar bought for ingame music;
Nice weekend spent.

Fill yourslef with emotion and spread a full aura by holding one of 3 emotion buttons. Gather emotion icons inside your aura. Refill yourself with another emotion when you are out of points. Have fun and live a good life.

For now (22:31) my game lacks win\lose conditions, nice thingies, some sound and music (finally bought guitar for this purpose today). Not sure if i will finish the game today – i want to add more functional so “B&A” will have some drama. :)
