So yeah! The game is finnish-ed!

I’m kind of proud of this one; It’s the my first game to have a tone that isn’t detached and cartoony.

Strangely enough, absolutely no content was cut out. I knew what the game was going to be almost from the beginning.

The main inspirations were Undertale(surprise, surprise) and Tomodachi Life (Or, at least, it’s what gave me the idea of Feles).

That’s about all I have to say about it.

So far, it’s an outlandish (Arcade?) shoot-em-up.

The art style here is based off of a dream I had when I was 7 years old.

Anyway, this game is going to be quite different from my other ones.

Because between levels, you see this little thing.

It gets interesting.

The Demon is here!

I will be participating in this competition, obviously, and I will do it WITHOUT any slave-labor this time.

Hello, human.

I am The Tophat Demon, and I had just finished a game two days ago, and I guess I’m about to make another!

I had recently revisited Game Maker after experimenting with a variety of programming languages, and I think I might

stick with it for a while.

This is like my…gah, I lost count. This is my several-th Ludum Dare!

Programming: Game Maker

Art: Aseprite/Game Maker

Sound: SFXR

Music: OpenMPT

In there somewhere

Alright, I lost count of how many ‘Dares I’ve been in. Let’s just call it 7, ok?

Anyways, as opposed to my usual Actionscript3, I recently discovered NaaLaa, so I guess I’m obligated to use it.

Language: NaaLaa 6

Gwaphics, gwaphics, gwaphics! : Aseprite

Sound : Sfxr (didn’t see that coming, did you?)

Music: Probably Famitracker or OpenMPT, it depends on what type of game I’m making

Well, this seems to be becoming a running theme.

I either finish early, or not at all. So, anyways, I’m pretty much done here.

I just need to finish a music track that doesn’t make your ears bleed.

Something Something Puzzle Platform

Here’s what I’ve got so far…It’s a puzzle platform thingy where you push crates.

You switch between worlds at will, and switches activated in one world can

affect something in the other world. Also, the water functions like that of

Mega Man, as in it cuts your gravity in half. Once again, I’m using the NES

color palette and restrictions.

PROGRAMMING: Flashpunk (AS3)

GWAFIKS: Aseprite

MUSIC: Famitracker

Currently listening to: Power Man (Mega Man Rock Force)

I HAVE FINISHED MY GAME. Kind of early, in fact.

Almost done!?

Yeah, I’m about 90% done with Escaping of the Cave (yeah, I’m REALLY good at coming up with names).

Unfortunately, I ran into complications. Today was the day I figured out that Flash does not like Google Chrome.

Apparently Chrome can make flash games really laggy, and it made my game almost unplayable. So, I followed the instructions on this website:

And that fixed it for me. Actually, it may have just been the fact that I reinstalled Flash Player. NEVERTHELESS, expect a release sometime later today.

Here, I shot the screen for you!

OK, so I’ve got a platform shooting character and an enemy that doesn’t do anything. Later I’ll make the enemy move and stuff.

I’m not sure about where to go from here; It takes place in a cave so that counts as ‘under the surface’. I’m thinking the cavern will be about to cave in and there will be boulders and stuff falling from the ceiling.

Inside of it, beating up pedestrians.

Going to enter this one. I might have to go extra fast, due to some social obligations. This time I’m making it in Flashpunk, so people will actually play my game. I never kept track of how many Ludum Dares I entered…I think this is my fourth or fifth time entering. Nevertheless, I’m using:

-Flashpunk for programming (AS3)

-Aseprite for spriting

-Sfxr (of course)

-PXtone (for the single, hastily-written song)

Also, I’m taking on NES-restrictions for my sprites. Full NES pallete, but only 3 colors per sprite.

Craptains Log III : The Epilogue

Well, the Ace of Clubs project is no more. Kind of. I spent the ENTIRETY of yesterday trying to fix this glitch with terrain manipulation, and could never fix it. Now it’s pretty much too late. Despite the terrain problems, everything else works fine. So, I guess I’ll turn it into a multiplayer deathmatch game of some sort. It may involve jetpacks.

Suprise! Instead of having two players on the same keyboard, Ace of Clubs now has MuLtIpLaYeR NeTwOrKiNg! It’s not that hard, actually (at least in BlitzMax). Anyways, it’s only compatible with two players (because I’m lazy, but this may be changed soon). You can place and delete blocks, though currently deleting blocks crashes the game. Even though there’s a lot done on the gameplay front, I’ll still need to add a few things behind the scenes (you can’t change which IP and port you’re using).

Ace of Clubs is currently going smoothly. I have a platform character that’s animated and fires weapons. There are about 3 weapons, though their only difference right now is firing speed and quantity (e.g. the shotgun fires 3 bullets). Once I remap the controls to fit a more two-players-one-keyboard style I’ll go on to placing and destroying blocks. But yeah, I’ve got the original game’s weapons implemented. Also, I’ve had that one creepy boss theme from Sonic CD stuck in my head *shudder*.

I’m doing the Ludum Dare (As the title suggests). This time I will be making a 2D remake of (the classic) Ace of Spades. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to work in online multiplayer mode or anything, but there definitely will be a local multiplayer (as in two people using the same keyboard). I have just now prepared a sprite-sheet for the players :

(It’s incredibly small, but that’s the look I’m going for.)

I’m calling it Ace of Clubs (See what I did there?) and it will probably be made in Blitz Max.
