75% Chance I Won’t Be Doing LD37

Good Day. LD37 kinda snuck up on me. I did not enter the last one due to the fact that I had guests from out of country. This time I may not enter as I am already working on a game. I am developing it Mon-Fri, I take the weekends off to recharge my batteries. Afraid if I do LD37 I won’t have those recharged batteries I count on to continue development on my game. So if I do enter LD37, I will probably give it about eight hours of my time at the most. But in all likelyhood I may be waiting until LD38.

Good luck to all entering.

Ludum Dare 36 with Broken Finger

I was originally going to opt out this time around due irl circumstances, but I have decided to enter. On Tuesday I broke my middle finger on left hand. So here I ccome Ludum Dare 36, broken finger and all.

Howdy Folks, while I would love to redeem myself after the failure that was Ludum Dare 35 (I was too ambitious). I sadly will not get a chance most likely to do this. On August 20th some friends are coming to visit from outside of the country. It would be pretty tacky if I spent 2-3 of the days they have with us on Ludum Dare 36. So, I will have to opt out of this Ludum Dare. If I do anything, it will be when everyone is asleep, I could maybe get in 8 hours. So depending on the theme, if I can punch something out in 8 or so hours in 3 days I will try. But, no guarantees. I will have to wait for Ludum Dare 37.

I Am Withdrawing From Ludum Dare 35

I am withdrawing from Ludum Dare 35. This is a bit of a blow, because I put 40 hours into this contest. Fourty hours working my ass off to end up withdrawing. I bit off more than I could chew, it’s as simple as that. My project was too ambitious for a one person team. The game was for all intents and purposes complete. However it had a crippling bug, that I simply do not have the mental fortitude to fix at this time, I have never been so mentally exhausted. I put in a full normal week of work in the period of three days. When I woke up this morning, I felt like I didn’t sleep a wink, adding to the mental exhaustion because I did not feel rested.

While I am feeling the sting of defeat, you fail in life so that you can overcome your weakness, and once again it all comes down to pride. I will learn, and overcome in Ludum Dare 36 this August. I am going to put aside this project, I will archive it and never touch it again, as a reminder of my past failure should I fall into past failings

I will however continue programming and developing video games because it is something I love to do. I will take a few days off and relax to regain myself, then continue. This is not the end of the world, after all this whole thing was in the spirit of having fun.

While it sucks that I failed, there is a pressure lifted off of my shoulders. Looking forward to Ludum Dare 36.

Ready For Ludum Dare 35 – My Second Ludum Dare

In December I entered and completed my first Ludum Dare challege. My game was for the compo portion of Ludum Dare. My first Ludum Dare game was not really good. I was proud of my accomplishment at the time, because I completed a game in 72 hours. However looking back, I know I could have done better, way better. If you want to play my Ludum Dare 34 game (warning it is really hard and has horrible controls) here it is – http://ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-34/?action=preview&uid=63026

This time around, I am doing the 48 hour jam. In the last three months my programming skills have improved, and I am feeling far more confident than last time. I am also confident that this Ludum Dare game no matter the theme will blow my old game out of the water. I hope to give you guys something fun to play this time around. Good luck to everyone and have fun.

Tools I will be using:

Unity

Programming Language – C#

Paint.net

sfxr

Audio Sauna

I will be working alone as usual. I’m the type that likes and really enjoys working solo on a project. I just don’t work well with others.

Entering Ludum Dare 35

Hello, Wolf here. This is going to be my second Ludum Dare. Last year in Ludum Dare 34 I made a game called “Cook!!! I’m Hungry!!!” – http://ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-34/?action=preview&uid=63026

While I was proud of my game, I think this time I can bring something better to the table now that I have three months more experience. I will be broadcasting my Ludum Dare challenge this time, and I am going to try for the Jam this time around. It gives me more pressure to finish the project in a shorter amount of time. Hopefully I can really accomplish something this time around. Really looking forward to Ludum Dare 35, I will see you on twitch – https://www.twitch.tv/wolfofodin

Hello, WolvesOfOdin here (though technically I am the only wolf, using it as my studio name). My real name is Scott, and I  am going to be entering into my first Ludum Dare! I am very excited, I stumbled upon this on accident while watching TheGypsyKnight on twitch.

Tools I will be using for LD34:

Unity (C#)

Paint.net

SFXR

and stock music.

I will be entering the Jam portion of the contest since this is my first time. Mainly doing this for the experience of making a game in 72 hours. I am SUUUUUUUUUUPER excited for this event. Good luck to everyone, I hope you have a fun weekend :)
