Hi fellow Ludumites,

I finally got around to publishing my Android game “Hedgehog Wars” to the Google Play store and the Amazon App store. So it is easier than ever to try my game out on your Android phone. Just follow the links from my game entry page below, or simply search for “Hedgehog Wars” in the stores.

Now I really need to get serious about rating lots of other games! That is my mission objective for this weekend.   :-)

My first Android game is all done

My aim for Ludum Dare 27 was to learn Lua and Corona, and make my first ever Android game.

The resulting game is fairly simple, but after spending all weekend pulling my hair out over Lua,

and the almost-never-works debugging capabilities of Lua Glider IDE (can you say “print debugging”),

I am satisfied to have ended up with any game at all.   :-)

I think this game prototype has a kernel of a good idea and fun gameplay in it. I hope to find the time

to expand upon this prototype, and publish it to the Android app store sometime soon.

Goodnight all – it is nearly midnight here in London.

Good luck to all those working hard during the last 2 hours of Ludum Dare 27.   :-)

My 3rd Ludum Dare compo

Hello fellow Ludum Dare developers. For this, my 3rd Ludum Dare, I plan to throw my familiarity and knowledge of C# and Silverlight out of the window!

Instead I will use a brand new tool and language, both of which I am completely unfamiliar with! Sounds like a recipe for certain disaster!

Tool: Corona

Language: Lua

Editor: Notepad++

Music: Maybe some freeware music.

Sound: Hopefully I’ll find some time to use SFXR.

Art: once again, the infamous programmer art!

Good luck everybody! I hope we get an interesting theme that we all like.

My second Ludum Dare

Hi all, this is my second Ludum Dare. This time I hope to get further along towards creating some fun gameplay.

Language / Platform: C# using Silverlight 5.

IDE: Visual Studio 2012

Libraries: I am planning to reuse a simple framework that I created for my first Ludum Dare entry.

Music: Probably none, maybe some freeware music.

Sound: I’ve never used SFXR before, but I might try it; otherwise I’ll be recording some sound effects.

Art: programmer art?

First version of my game tech

Here’s my first screenshot. As you can see, I’ve concentrated on technology instead of art, sound or design… famous last words.  😉

This is my first attempt at Ludum Dare. My aim is simply to produce something playable.

Language / Platform: C# using Silverlight 5.

IDE: Visual Studio

Libraries: None. I’m hoping to code everything from scratch, although I feel like I might regret this…   😉

Music: Probably none

Sound: I’ve never used SFXR before, but I might try it; otherwise I’ll be recording some sound effects.

Art: programmer art in Paint.Net. It won’t be pretty!

I’m very happy to be joining you all in this fantastic event. Good luck everyone!
