Hey, I’m participating!

Why is that interesting, you may ask?

-I’m on a mini holiday with my family – I don’t have time for LD

-And more importantly I DON’T HAVE A COMPUTER. The game is entirely being made on my phone… :)

I don’t really like the theme, so I just go with the snowman.  :) But still will be pretty much a one screen game though.

Enemy AI system is working. Quite flexible too – probably unnecessarily so, I’m sure I won’t have time to create that many type of enemies as the system allows. :-/
I also changed (simplified of course) my original gameplay idea because I the more I think about it, the more doubts I have that it could work at all. So instead of an Ikaruga-style phase (world) switching shooter, I stick with a simple room-by-room (let’s call it world by world, to satisfy the theme), where the player can only traverse to the next world, if she clears all enemies from the current one. So nothing special, but I try to make it fun. :)

Ok, basic player movement, first draft of player model, bullet firing, enemy dying, done. Very roughly, but whatever. :)

Let’s see if a video can be embedded here:

Ok, the idea is some short of Ikaruga-like shooter, in 3d, third person view, with a hoverbike… The first version of movement is in.

Yoohoo! My game “Upstream” achieved it’s 100th rating today! :)
That puts it in the top 3.5% of the most rated games in this LD according to itch.io – I never thought that it could achieve this. :)
Thank you for everybody taking time to try my little game, and for the kind comments! :)

And if anybody else wanna try it on the last day of judging: http://j.mp/1mO1tUK :)

Let me join the zillions of entries which interpret the the as an underwater/diving game… :) But this time in puzzle form. I can’t stay for the whole duration of LD, so I quickly whipped up a small game in PuzzleScript (I always wanted to try it anyway).

So about five-six hours later, I’m basically finished – It’s called “Upstream”. You control a little diver and have to retrieve lost treasure chests from the bottom of the sea.

The trick is that you can’t lift the chests – you can only push them horizontally. To reach the boats on the surface, you have to use the upstreams in the sea (the little up arrows). When there is no upstream go high enough, you can fill the gaps with air bubbles – they lift the chest one tile and disappear, so you have to think strategically using them.

I think it’s turned out quite nicely considering this is the first time I used PuzzleScript. :)

(Duhh… Why the heck the pic is not moving? It’s an animgif. Ehh, here is a link to my tumblr post: http://j.mp/1rtu95H )
