Veggie Kerfuffle – Update 7 (final)

PLAYER 1: ARROWS + M
PLAYER 2: WASD + Q
PLAYER3: JOYPAD – LEFT ANALOG STICK + L1
PLAYER4: JOYPAD – RIGHT ANALOG STICK +R1

 

Instructions:

  • You can pluck items with your action Key.
  • The first one to hit the monster will wake him up (you need at least 2 players for that!).
  • You can throw seeds on other players to stun them for a brief period.
  • If you hit the monster, he’ll be stunned too, but he’ll aggro you after that.
  • Last man fruit standing wins the round!

So we finished the game (kinda), half of our team got sick during the weekend (Murphy Law amiright?!), so we didn’t worked at 100%. And we didn’t had time to put everything on the game. Couple things are missing like:

  • There’s still no point system (the winner is the survivor!)
  • There’s only one type of item available (normal seed)
  • There’s no clock, and no opening credits.
  • No instruction or options for controls..

For instance so far you can play with only 1 of our 4 main characters

We do have the sprites, we just don’t have the time to properly insert them into the game…

Actually… This is our WIP-Animator… All pretty and well connected… Beautifully designed to this point…

But this is what we are using for this last-minute-build… just two connections with an in-code controller made in Extreme Go-Horse Process

Our boss has only the keyframes, but we managed to fake couple placeholder animations…

Well… I think that’s it!
I’m kinda Tired now and I’ll post a complete Post-Mortem tomorrow

But we really enjoyed making this game, and are going to work on the final version in the next couple weeks, so get ready for a Veggie-Kerfuffle release this summer!!!

So we are making a vegetable/fruit/food/arena.
The players need to survive in X-rounds fighting match, always avoiding the scenario hazards and the boss, who is not happy to be awaken by the players kerfuffle.

 

Tools & Team:

  • Unity3D for coding
  • PaintTool SAI and AnimeStudio for graphics
  • No idea about the music and sound yet =/

 The Game:

Its a top-down arena where 2-4 players fight against each other. Using different items from the scenario, players try to lure their opponents into being eaten by the current stage boss, normally a menacing looking fruit, the first one is probably a guarana fruit. =)

 

Players will use items from the scenario to interact with the current boss, and the other players, trying to be the laste one standing. The gameplay will ‘probably’ look like a mix of a couple games like Bomberman, Poke the Ogre and Walock, they are all inspiring us in some level.

I wasn’t planning on participating buuuut ….
this idea seemed cool, so I just started it 1.5 hours ago

I’m using Construct2, MsPaint, PixelArt, BFXR and Extreme Go Horse!!
U are a reaper apprentice, collecting souls and solving puzzles…

  • Construct2 – for game engine [site]

  • bfxr – for sounds [site]
  • otomata – for music [site]
  • Windows8 OS

I’m short in time, so I’m experimenting the Extreme Go Horse methodology…
somthing like “less thinking more doing” – let’s see what happens… =S

Looking for some webcam and screen capture software now…

 

 

Vermon – starting now

Hi!

Vermon here, from AdugeStudio – Curitiba Brazil.

Yesterday I was only crafting some ideas so I started about 1 hour ago.

Unfortunately I won’t have much time to work in this project this weekend (I thinking about top 15 hours). So maybe I won’t even finish the game =(

But I’ll be participating here!

 

So far I’m using  Unity3D, to prototype some of the ideas for the game…Some kind of arena battle (the arena is a tiny world ^^)

But… I still have no idea how the game will end up…
