About velvelajade

Puzzlers is what I like to create and wrap my mind around. I still consider myself a newbie to game creation as there is so much to learn and so little time to learn it. I solo my projects normally. And no, I do not take commission work or any requests. Sorry!

The website is my current holding place for games I create. I might change that eventually, but haven't decided for sure yet.

Puzzling Escape

"Now how do I get out of here?!?"

“Now how do I get out of here?!?”

Be sure when you get to the spot with the anagram letters, that you guess which words are needed by changing the letters to the correct letter in ABC order according to what the “?” letter would be. After you solve that one, you should be able to walk up to discover which door will lead you to the outerspace challenge.

And, my deepest apologies. The boxes, when put where they belong, still don’t do anything. I forgot to put in the reward. Its not like I had time anyway, but still. Sorry!

Used: VX Ace. File size is 193mb due to Ace.

Thanks for all your feedback!

I just wanted to thank everyone who helped me rank 24% on the coolness factor! I wasn’t expecting to rank in anything, actually.

Future: Now that I have a webcam and can record music, perhaps I can add original music for next years event.  I’m too much a noob on the guitar and drums for this year.

My games will always have puzzlers, but I’m seriously considering keeping the Sudoku variations out of my game, and sticking to either traditional Sudoku or one with an X rule in it, or taking Sudoku out altogether.  Every idea I tried, failed in testing, so there is no way I can do a unique Sudoku variation in Ace.

My challenge will be to fit my puzzlers to the “theme”, and come up with better puzzlers. The latest theme, “a Final Boss” will be easy. I’ve already figured that one out. If I could do “war” in Ace and have it not be like Game Boy Advance games, I would, but I can’t yet.  I’ll have less animation too. I just am a wee bit addicted to waterfalls. lol

Zevy’s Puzzlers

Zevy’s Puzzlers is about a brainiac that solves puzzlers in order to escape the school and get back home. Kazaguruma and Sokoban challenges Jenius is adept at solving… but are you? This is my official project for Ludum Dare33. I hope you enjoy the game! Please note that the opening screen image I did not create, but all the other images I did create. Thanks! (I’m reuploading my game to my website. Thanks! )

I worked on this by myself. The only thing I did not do, was the audio itself. I enjoy puzzler games, so I worked feverishly on getting something unique that isn’t as well known. I chose Kazaguruma puzzle because it is very rare. It plays like Sudoku. Sokoban puzzles are also a bit fun but challenging to create correctly so that it is playable.

Game system: VX Ace.

Food: Noodles & Company,  Mexican Rice Spaghetti, tons of water, and Snapea Crisps.

Nothing pithy to say, so I’ll end it here. Please rate my game. Thanks!

Non Compus Mentus Destruens Game 1 of 2.

My mini game that honours the theme I hate, is done. We are in storms, so that one is not getting anything more added to it. The music is NOT mine. Some graphics is by VX Ace,  are apart of the game engine, and was merely recolourized.  The eventing is 100% my own. What is missing? The credits page! Oops! (The swan waterfalls and the water they sit in, is my own, as are the letter graphics.) I worked on this alone, and did not use anyone else’s scripts. The only credit would go to RPG Game Maker VX Ace and then, myself Velvela Jade.

The game will be found under downloads here:

Velvela Jade’s Games

I have to go make Game 2 for the contest. That one will have more original images, but will not contain any music by me.

Twin Citians and Ludum Dare

Is there anyone in the Twin Cities areas doing Ludum Dare? I didn’t make it to the Ubuntu meeting as I was way too tired, so I couldn’t ask anyone there. Just curious.  What game engine are you using? Thanks!

I will be using VX Ace game maker and attempting to make a simple word game for word geeks. Theme? If the theme does not work with word game puzzles, I will make the puzzle anyways and just chuck the theme. lol No, seriously, I will have to get really creative in getting that theme in there.
