I guess I can say “I did it”. I’ve made a complete game, albeit without sound or music (and a bit of a rushed ending).

Although I had little more than a day to make this, it is complete so I’m happy :) I just didn’t have much time to playtest, so I hope there aren’t too many bugs :S

I just realized there was a Ludum Dare happening now, and I thought of an idea I think I can make in the 29 hours left. It helps that the theme is minimalism :)

I’ll be making the game in ActionScript 3, with flixel.

Wow, those final hours were intense.

I started with a pretty ambitious idea.

For the first day it didn’t feel I would finish in time, but although it’s not as complete as I’d wish I think I can call it a finished game.

Finally, Mittens is finished! I really need to sleep right now… so I’ll submit a time-lapse video tomorrow.

Instead of using Musagi I used Wolfram Tones random generator for music, since I ran out of time to make it myself.

I also used flixel Power Tools for the health bar.

I hope you all like it! I’m really proud of the game I made, this was a great experience :)

My first Ludum Dare

I’m really excited to start my first Ludum Dare! Here’s what I’ll likely be using:

– flixel AS3 framework

– FlashDevelop

– Paint Shop Pro X3

– as3sfxr

– Audacity

– Musagi (if I can figure out how to use it in time :D)

– My level editor, called Fury Editor, which is basically useless for anyone except me since fiddling with the source code and recompiling is necessary to adapt it to different projects. But since it seems to be required to share, here it is: http://vascof.com/Stuff/Fury Editor v0.1.zip

For changes in the level editor I’ll use CodeBlocks and compile with MinGW (gcc). The editor uses Allegro and OpenLayer.
