Yay! That was so much fun, though. Unlike LD25 with the team, I felt so little stress I thought I was dreaming!

NOT MY ENTRY. NOT MY ENTRY. NOT MY ENTRY. Lifted from http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/2011/08/22/post-ld-still-dreaming/ because it was (1) relevant and (2) Ludum Dare related. ^_^

I don’t currently intend to become the best game jam dev evar, hehe, I just had fun making something, even if I didn’t get all the way with it in the time limit, I will always have the ability to return to it and flesh it out. I love LD because of what people end up doing with the always loved-and-hated theme both during and after! :)

Postmortem and top-down, plot/world-focused game design heuristic (for those of us who ain’t so good at starting bottom-up from a gameplay mechanic) after the jump:

“You only get one”, to me implies rarity, and cherishing something that either you have and don’t want to lose–

or happen to be saving it for… yeah, this.

–or want to get that “something” as an ultimate goal. I think everyone conventionally wants to hang onto life, which would fall under “things you already have”–so how about “you only get one death” instead? And I feel like I could do something clever with that no-kill challenge… and with an acronym this good, I can’t go wrong! Fufu!

((and we were just discussing how LD is so much better than new years because you get more than one, dohoho))

But I’m going out to eat with a colleague to hash out potential prototypes for our separate attempts (if he decides he’s in!), cheers!

Reification, in with one foot, out with one ear and eye?

Greetings, LD28 blogosphere! Haven’t seen the site since LD25’s You Are the Villain run!

… Yeah, came away from Sin Regne Enbre with a lot of mixed feelings, both goods and bads. This time around…

  • I really would prefer to eschew XNA (RIP~) this time around for something easier for other people to play!
  • But at the same time, I want to try to be more into watching streams and keeping up with the blogs of everyone else! I think there’s so much fun to be viewed, and I might learn a thing or two along the way seeing all the different ways of making a game, whether it be in Construct, libGDX, or… C? Saw a couple doing that with some libraries, blows my mind a little!
  • I have not settled on a tool-set currently, I’ll have to see whether my ideas pull me one way or another. I’ve got experience in Unity with C# and a tiny bit of knowledge about the Enchant.js framework, so I could learn one way or the other if the theme makes me think “Oh, I’d love to get Blender in on this!”

…Ramble time though…
