Post-Mortem

I always wanted to create video games, I did some tests, but aside from one game, 2 years ago, (http://www.kongregate.com/games/tet2brick/lost-colony/ if you want to test it) none was finished or published.

LD was a good opportunity to have a deadline … and it worked!

I’m pretty happy with the end result, it could be improved, but for a developed 48 I think it’s pretty cool.

What I’m happy about

– The design in general and in particular that of the character … I’ve never done pixel art before a few weeks ago, so it’s not too bad.

– The gameplay is functional, I think the difficulty is well balanced and evolutive.

– The game is fun (I enjoyed playing it myself… :p )

– The music is ok and was done in less than two minutes, that was a last minute addition.

What I intend to improve in the next version

– A prettier start screen

– More levels

– More ambient sound

– More scenery

– More graphic details (tree, plants, rocks, tombstones, etc..)

– More different traps?

– Enemies?

– More levels

– Mooooore levels

– A better title.

Well, that was a really interesting experience that helped me realize that I could develop full games more often.

My first LD, that was two in(tense)teresting days.

I’ve been struggling for two year to finish a game, and now in 48h it’s done. All I needed was a deadline. :)

I’m pretty happy with the result. There is a lot more to do to polish it, but for now it’s okay. It work and that’s a start. 😀

So go ahead, test it and don’t hesitate to give feedback,  criticism, money, alcohol.

Here is the first level tilemap, over ten second the yellow tiles gradually appear then the green ones disapear. And vice versa.

Not really happy with the sand texture but I’ll do with it for now.

So my idea is a platformer where the platforms “switch” every ten seconds. (My english is far from perfect, I’m tired, so it’s hard to explain)

I started with the game engine core and it went faster than expected. It’s almost finished.
Now I will work on the graphical side, some screenshots are coming.

Now -> food.

Okay. Let’s do this.

10 seconds? The only theme I voted against. 😀

So I think making a platformer where the level switch every 10 seconds.

And here is my desk. Fascinating no? Smoking is bad for you health kids.

I’m in and I’m very excited. My first LD.

I have plenty of ideas… I’m sure none of them will fit the theme. :))
