I think I take the record at being at the most coffee shops; currently at 5th one; still cursing not having a non-initial latency audio solution for pure AS3.  (Must… resist… Flash IDE .SWC encoding…)

Third coffee shop today…

Almost at the fearful part; while an actor system is up and running, level, graphics, sound, and most importantly… fun are still on the TODO.  I’ll settle just for the fun.

Flash sound issues

Trying to make a game without having to resort to SWC packing my audio files via the Flash IDE. … I’ve tried as3wavsound ( http://code.google.com/p/as3wavsound/ )which has given my engine WAV support but the delay in playing a sound is even greater than MP3.

Does anyone know of a low latency, no initial delay, Actionscript 3 (AS3) based sound system/library?

P.S. I really need to solve this problem during the next swatch of free time, not during a Ludum Dare.

Controller hooked up, little more level tweaking

Touch/mouse controls are in… following Sid’s rule of making most everything global; messy organization but easy access.  This is not how you want to write enterprise systems… 😉

P.S.: Is it just me or is it not possible to change your profile image here?  There are no options for my account in the Ludum Dare WordPress “Edit My Profile” screen.  Sadness.

At my local Starbucks; 10 minutes until they close… base code is out and first real screen is up 2 hours in:

Tweaking levels and underlying formulas; audio is a toss up at this point…

More added, mostly behind the scenes on the game play.  Did spent a little time in Photoshop; hoping to get sound in after sleep.

Idea with a cellular automata-based tiny world.

Graphics currently generated (thank goodness for AS3’s perlinNoise() function).
