Combat Shock is done!

Hi Everybody

I’ve just submitted my game Combat Shock. It’s the same two player turn based tactical strategy shooter from before, but now with added graphics!

Unfortunately due to work commitments I didn’t get to add the things I wanted like More Weapons,  Class Based Units, Jumping and Objectives but I can do that next week!

It’s been fun making this game and I hope you like it. In the future I’d like to do more work to it and then maybe port it over to mobile and possible the OUYA. I think those platforms are perfectly suited to local multiplayer, where as PC is probably more suited to a networked multiplayer. What you guys think?

Hi Everybody

Today I made a new level for my playable prototype. I started out trying to be creative and ended up wasting half a day, so I made basic 2Fort / Facing Worlds type level instead. I’ve also upped the team size to 5 and reduced the turn time to 10 seconds because the map is so small.

I’m teaching tomorrow so I won’t be able to work on this :( But I will try to get some character models, design the  map a bit better and maybe add another weapons or two over the weekend.

Turn Based Tactical Shooter Day 3

Hi Everybody

Today I’ve added projectile weapons to replace the rubbish raycasting ones from before. They look way cool and make noises! I’ve also made it so that headshots do more damage and item picks for ammo and health. It’s like a real game now!

Playable Prototype Day 2

Hi Everybody

I’ve updated my playable prototype with today’s additions. Play it here

Today I’ve added a simple overwatch feature for enemy units. Simply this sets all units on the opposing team to be in overwatch mode so they shoot the active unit if they enter their line of sight. While it’s a bit different from other turn based games in that all enemies are in overwatch mode by default, it has kind of turn the game into a strange Turn Based Tactical Single Player Shooter hybrid thing. Which is cool!

Please give it a play and any feedback is welcome. It’s still pretty rough at the moment but it’s getting there.

Tomorrow I’m going to implement item pick ups into the game map that give the player unit more ammo, extend turn time or increase their speed.

I’m also going to change the weapons from simple raycasts into projectile weapons. This should make them a bit more fun and noticeable when you get shot at.

First Playable Prototype !

Hi Everybody

Been working hard on the 7DRTS yesterday and I’ve already got a playable prototype!

The game doesn’t have a title yet but it’s a Turn Based Tactical Shooter for two players. Each player controls a team of four units. Each turn the player controls one unit. They can move and shoot as much as they like for the length of the turn, but with limited ammo. The objective is to eliminate the opposing team! It’s like a mixture of Worms and Counter Strike.
