Still not sure where this is going

Well … it is what it is, right?

I had some trouble focusing today and did some really(!) bad programming, so I decided to finish the day with at least some animations for my vikings.
Lots of vikings with nothing to do but killing other vikings right now.
But lets be honest, that’s what you would expect from a viking, right?. Hopefully I’ll be better tomorrow :)
Hope you are all having fun!

Don’t forget to create backups of your work so far!

In again

Great Keynote!

My 11th LD + a bunch of MiniLDs.
Going to use LibGDX, Artemis-ODB, IntelliJ Idea, Inkscape/Gimp/Pyxel Edit, Universal Tween Engine

My compo enry “Commander Left Right” is a physics and purely skill based flight game with online highscore.

I ported the game to Android! Would be happy if you could test it and tell me how it works! <3

Commander Left Right is a physics and purely skill based flight game with online highscore. There are already people competing for new best times. How about you?

I hope I manage to write up a post mortem for this one as I learned soooo many things that I’d like to summarize at least for myself.
Also have to finish the Android port Soon™

I am pannicking just a little bit …

So little time, so much to do!

End of day one

Two buttons: Thruster left, Thruster right.
Nothing too fancy here, but working and semi-tweaked physics, tilemap loading, game over condition, screen transitions and a solid plan for tomorrow.
Hope you are having a good time too!

I totally messed up my 10th LD anniversary last time and didn’t finish a game for the first time in 10 consecutive LDs that I took part in since I started with LD#24.
I was pretty disappointed, especially because I had something going already, but well. I decided to do it again nevertheless :)

My significant other may join me and create graphics and animations in which case we will join the jam. If she doesn’t, I may do the compo dance.

I will once again use my favorite Entity Component System Framework Artemis-ODB with libgdx, IntelliJ (instead of the usual eclipse) and universal tween engine as well as my base code which you can find here.

Have fun everyone!

Make a Backup NOW

Just a friendly reminder on the morning of day 2. Make a backup of your game right now and store it on a different device. Just in case! Takes only a few seconds and can save games (pun intended)!

Meanwhile I’ll go on and try to figure out what to do with what I created yesterday :) Have fun!

Animation Day

I spent most of the day with animations and fixing bugs in the animation framework I use.
I didn’t get much done in terms of actual gameplay and that’s actually not so good because my scope was already very ambitious.
At least I am kind of liking how things look and even the animations aren’t as bad as they were in the beginning. Who knew humanoids are so difficult to animate! (I kind of did, but yeah …)
I hope I get a minimal version of the actual story implemented tomorrow.
Good luck!

Art Style And Idea

Concept is written down.
I settled for an art style and drew some elements to see how fast I can pump it out.
These took me ~60 minutes so I should be able to draw enough for my ambitious story line :)

My art concept

I’m in once again for my 10th consecutive Ludum Dare! I didn’t miss a LD since LD24 and am as excited as always to make a game!

I will once again use my favorite Entity Component System Framework Artemis-ODB with libgdx, Eclipse IDE and universal tween engine as well as my base code which you can find here

One step at a time

We are getting somewhere. An hour ago we considered to switch from real-time gameplay to turn based puzzling. That’s LD!

Idea came quickly

It felt weird to have an idea only one hour after waking up and reading the theme. But our game may actually be fun with lots of features and probably a lot of time for polish!

Nina did some sketches for some enemies and gameplay elements.

sketchingAwayProgramming is coming along nicely too!

Hope everyone is having fun!

Third In

We (Nina+Tim) are in for the third time! It’s actually my 9th time in the LD but after 6 submissions in the compo category it’s the third time that we create a game together.
Working together was much better the second time during LD 30 when we created Hit and slide than the first time.

Hit And Slide, our second game

We will most likely use libgdx + artemis-odb for the programming part and illustrator for graphics and Spine for animations.
We wish you all a lot of fun!

Rocket Science, our first game together

Ponball? Sure!

I finished my MiniLD entry Ponball. As usual there’s a lot of room for improvements but playing with my girlfriend showed that it can actually be a lot of fun. There’s also an AI opponent if you don’t have someone else to play with.

I wish I had the time to use a different camera perspective because everything looks way cooler if not watched from a top-down perspective. But – well – whatever – that’s the way it is.

Check out the game RIGHT HERE and let me know what you think!

Or watch the video (but I can guarantee that playing is much more fun, especially with a second player ;))
