I’m going to join this Ludumdare after a failure last time.

This time I’m going to use Java + libgdx, and trying to understand Box2D.

For sound I’m going to use SFXR and SunVox.

For graphics I’m using Paint.net and Pickle.

I’m maybe going to use Tiled.

GL! :)

Man, couldn’t get anything to work this ld. I had bug after bug, I did stuff for hours that I later scraped. So this was not the most efficient ld for sure! But, I managed to create this bear that my friend say directly when he saw it: “PEDOBEAR”. So I failed on creating a bear too…

This will be my second Ludumdare, last time it went were well! But this time I will start from scratch, because last time I used a framework.

I will be using :

Java

Paint.net

Pickle

SFXR / BFXR

I need ideas how to create simple music, I have a keyboard but I don’t know how to start and which program…

2D Game in LWJGL with modern OpenGL, Has anyone done it?

Hi,

I was planning to create a 2D game with LWJGL for LD. I know my way around OpenGL and everything but I haven’t been able to create a tile system with VBO’s, has anyone done it and / or could you give me any tips for doing it. ? Thanks for any answers.

With modern OpenGL I mean not using glBegin(), glEnd(), glTranslatef();

Using information about collision from the internet in ld

I would just like to inform that under LD 27 I encountered a bug with collision, I could not get it to work. So after 2 hours I asked in the Ludum dare IRC if I could search for information about it and someone replied that I could do any type of research. I knew a good source about collision and I used that information in the game, here is the video:

It’s from The Cherno, for those who don’t know who he is.

He is a great java game programming teacher on youtube.

I thought first that you had to post your entry before the time runs out, you don’t want to know how much I stressed out because i couldn’t get my .Jar to run in time.

I had to make a slight  adjustment to be able to run the game, you have to put the res folder next to the .Jar. Damn paths :)

I have made a library / engine / framework (don’t know what I can call it) and I don’t know if I can use it for this Ludum dare, I have heard recently that you have to post this kind of stuff one week before Ludum dare but I didn’t know that.

Could anyone just check through this and post their thoughts in the comments. Would it be called cheating if I used it?

The reason I’m doing this is because my skills at AI and Sound is not good, and I don’t want to spend half ludum dare trying to figure out it.
