Seeking an artistic teammate

So! last time I took part, I felt like I spent too much time focusing on making the half-decent sprites for my game. After taking a break from LD last time. I’ve decided to throw myself into the ring a second time.

First time, I used Java as my weapon of choice, but this time around I’m thinking of trying my hand at something a little more simple. So I’ll either be using Game Maker Studio, or Unity, depending on the theme and my inspiration.

I WILL be streaming the whole time I’m working, and will post the link when the compo starts.

I’ve been working in a professional software engineering position, going on a year and a half now. So, my work experience should help in rapid prototyping and problem solving 8D

Only to realize that his florist needs to be fired, or in this case… re-purposed…




Making pretty good progress.

Added the ability to turn corpses left by the interns into more zombies, at the cost of a brain. You gain brains by munching interns of course.

I’ve also implemented a world builder, which will build the world based on an image. Cubicles will have random knickknacks on them, including computers, legal pads, and coffee mugs the size of your head.

also, as you can see, entities will also say random things at times.

So, with a theme like “You are the villain”, I decided I wanted to do more than just make the main character the villain, I wanted the PLAYER to be the villain. Thus, the  idea of controlling a horde of zombie executives came about. You are Executive zombie, the leader of them all, and your stockpile of brains is running low. Times are tough, and instead of finding them out in the wilderness, it’s time to make those interns more useful. Tell your zombie workers where to go, because surely there isn’t a cell of grey matter in the bunch.




((I’ve got a base zombie and a base living in the game so far. You can select the zombies either by clicking one, or click-dragging a bunch. Right clicking selects a target, either a location, or a living. Currently, I’m adding world objects to the game, like walls and such, only slightly necessary. I’m streaming the progress if any viewers are interested, apparently at the top of page 2 of the stream list))


Be all you can be, when brain’s are your biggest concern.

A new challenger approaches

So, this is going to be my very first LD. I’ve sat on the sidelines a few times, either because of intimidation, or just lack of time. But THIS time it’s different! I’ve got plenty of time, and plenty of confidence. So yeah, I’ll be putting my foot in and stepping up my game.

If anyone’s interested, I’ll actually be streaming the whole time, as so many competitors do. Also, I’ve put out a project base for java, a simple 2d game base with input and display already set up, as well as a looper. I’ll be using this, and anyone else who wants to is welcome. Here’s to hoping we get a whopper of a theme this time around, and good luck to everyone who jumps in! 8D


Shattered (My first MiniLD! – MiniLD#35)

well, I guess I should start a thread to show that I’ve actually got something going.

the game I’m working on is called shattered, and it’s about a being of light that gets corrupted so much by a dark beast that it actually shatters, and the goal of the game is to recover the lost pieces of your light. I’m only going to put together the phase 1 of this during the competition, since the main scope of the game is much larger.

Here’s the small amount of display I’ve got so far, it doesn’t look like much, but I had to figure a couple things out, but now I’m on the right track, so I think I’ll be able to start getting more done quicker.
