Submitted! Wow that was difficult!

I don’t think I’ve looked up so many programming and Photoshop questions in such a short time before. But I have a completed game at least!

I have a completed game up, but it is a small part of all the things I wanted to do (of course). My biggest gripe is that I ran out of time to get any good art or sound in the game. I created some art for my main character, the wheel you push around and the village at the end, but that’s about it. No background and my ground tiles are just some gradients from Photoshop.

I think the main lesson I learned is you need to plan for all of the needed assets somehow up-front. Think of a system that will allow you to add assets and code in at the same time so you can build off of each other. Late today I realized I should have started with a much smaller character model, but it was too late at that point because I created so much of the level by hand.

First time trying Ludum Dare and I’m in!

I’m both scared and excited. I’ve been studying how to build games in Unity for a few weeks now and I feel moderately confident that I can put something small together this weekend.

Trial by fire, let’s do this!
