Spent too much time making multiplayer

Posted by

Biggest takeaway, spent too much time developing multiplayer and fixing rendering bugs. Should have spent more time making an actual game!

Anyway, it’s done! Go kill all the humans (and invite your friends, its multiplayer!) http://33.joe-kent.com/

Come crash my server

Hey! Working on a multiplayer game, got enough done to start having people try joining and testing how well the server can handle the load. It’s all HTML5, should work across all browsers (but please comment with any bugs regardless!)

URL is 33.joe-kent.com

EDIT: and the Twitch stream! http://www.twitch.tv/thedeadlybutter

Let’s do this. Gonna try and do more than I normally would and bang out a multiplayer game. Going to be using HTML5+JS and NodeJs for the backend.

Also doing it live! www.twitch.tv/thedeadlybutter

Doing something different.

“Core idea” is in place. Fly through heaven & hell (no idea if thats what I’m gonna call it, just the how I’m describing the setting & feel) dodging blocks. I got a notebook of TO-DO’s still left, but at least the mechanic is there!
Also, obligatory notebook+whiteboard photos. (Feel free to donate some money so I can buy a larger whiteboard, I’ll put you in my LD game)

Ready for battle

The BattleStation is loaded with Unity + C# and NodeJS (for web deployment)
Updates will be frequently posted to my Twitter if you’re into that sort of thing. Otherwise goodluck everyone!

LD going good so far, making a space game where your the pilot of a malfunctioning ship heading towards your home planet (yet to be named).  Every 10 seconds you must fix a part of the ship using your “Fix-I Gun 9000” or you will loose. There’s going to be multiple challenges you need to complete in order to win, specifically 10 :)

Got my game design figured out to a certain degree, the specific challenges still need to be figured out but I’ll come up with them as I design the ship interior. Tonight I got the basic ship made, the sun/earth done and movement with low gravity. Over time the earth sphere expands to make it appear you’re moving closer, I took a video of everything so you can see it yourself:
