I’m in for my second LD. My goal for this time: more than one gameplay mechanic

Engine: Unreal Engine 4

Code: Visual Studio

Graphics: Photoshop, Pyxel Edit, Blender, Substance Designer, Inkscape

Sound(If I have time): REAPER, Mux Modular,Bfxr,Audulus

Finished my first Ludum Dare Game

Yeay, I  finished my first Ludum Dare :-)  and I was doing better than expected. Overall I had lots of fun and I will certainly participate in the next Ludum Dare.

I combined the snowman theme with the official theme “Entire Game on One Screen” by making a fixed camera. At first I wanted to let it snow snowballs, but this wasn’t working as I imagined it, because of the screen format there wasn’t so much vertical space, so I came up with the idea to place snowcannons in the world.

What went right:

  • Art style
  • Game idea
  • Sound and music  (my first time making music for a game)

What I could improve:

  • Build Size (I will build a version of UE4 without unneeded parts next time)
  • GUI – next LD I will add a proper menu with difficulty-selection,..
  • More variation in gameplay

What I will do different next time:

  • UE4 is a very fast toolkit for gamejams, so next time I will try something bigger, like a small RPG

Try to save the snowman by dodging the snowballs (Controlls: Left/Right or a/d and spacebar for jumping)
