I’m making a game where you are a creature living underground trying to feed your pet sheep!

I’ve gotten mostly everything I wanted to get done finished. Also, I got some schmancy gifs showing off my awesome amateur animations.

Now I can make more levels and maybe get some sound effects in. So far, this has been my favorite Ludum Dare!

I am really enjoying my progress with my game so far! Since I don’t know how to make smancy .gifs like the people who are more talented devs than me, I will post some pictures!

Just a few more things to do for the enemy’s behavior and then I can get some serious level-building/random polishing in for tomorrow!

I managed to finish my third Ludum Dare game: Super Alien Dungeon! This game is a vast improvement compared to my previous Ludum Dare games!

So I’ve been working on this little game for about 10+ hours now, and I’ve been really proud of myself for the progress I’m making! I got the inventory working, enemies, a template for adding items and other enemies into the game super easily!

At first I was going to have a medieval dungeon crawl game, but now I have a science-fiction dungeon crawl game. However, some of the items like Swords and Plate Armor are way behind their time so I should probably change them…

What I have so far!

I know black walls are kind of boring, and I know the art isn’t very good but I’m going to keep all of it because I still feel like I have a lot more to do besides try to fix my bad pixel art.

Looking through the blog posts throughout the day I’ve seen everybody make really amazing stuff with amazing progress, and I’m excited to try out some of the games!

Or at least hopefully.

I’ve made the mistake of having an inventory system in my game, so I’ve been awkwardly struggling with that almost the entire time! At least I also have a stick figure moving across the screen (with no redrawing background)…

A while ago somebody had posted a lot of tools for generating sound effects to use in games, and I had bookmarked one of them because I thought it was pretty neat so I’m reposting it!

This will be my third Ludum Dare, and this time I’m probably going to challenge myself more. My game for my last ludum dare was insanely simple and low stress compared to my first ludum dare with my second LD being done nearly 7 hours earlier than my first one.

I’ve also been working on a little Javascript library, so I’ll probably use Javascript this time around, and the usual GIMP 2 or Paint.NET for making amateur art.

I got my second Ludum Dare game finished (2 out of 2! 100% completion rate!). Still has fun as last time.

There is still an entire day left, and I’ve finished almost all the code and art stuff. Maybe I am just comparing it to my first submission too much.

Second time! Last time was a pretty nice learning experience so I’ll be looking forward to the next one where hundreds of other people finishing games will motivate me enough to actually finish one gosh dang it.

Towns begging for water is working. But I haven’t added a way to save them yet (that’s working). MWAHAHAH. demo here.

In high school they sometimes give us “progress reports”, which is just a mid-semester report card. So far I’ve only been at it for a few hours but I am content with my progress, so I’ll give myself a solid “C” for my progress report. This is my 3rd competition thingyma on the Ludum Dare site and my 2nd time using Javascript for a game (The first time was miserably failed but I learned a lot from it).

My “strategy” game is going to involve moving clouds around to control the weather, and in my current version of the game moving around clouds is all you can really do.

Since my Ludum Dare 26 game had the worst controls out of all the submissions I’m going to make sure the controls actually make sense this time. Which is exactly why I’m using WASD and the Spacebar instead of “>” and “<” with “U” and “P” and other akward keys like LAST TIME.
