Pro-pain ~ Yet another Post-mortem post

Alright, it’s my third LD arleady, and i haven’t written any Post-mortem. i NEED to fix that.
note: english is not my first language, so i’m sorry if there’s any gramatical error.

Looks like over-simplistic main menu is the only thing i’ve able to make…

You remember why you feared the night. (0f LD deadline)
Pro-pain is, like the subtitle says, an “Yet another zombie survival game”. It’s pretty basic, a white figure is killing green figures that came from both side with a flamethrower.
Now, i don’t know if it’s just me, but flamethrowers are pretty unconventional fo me, since you need to watch out using it, or else you end up toast.

What Went Right

– Music ~ It’s the first time i tried making some music, and while it isn’t great, i think it came out pretty well.
– Atmosphere ~ I think i pretty much nailed the “Suspense Horror something something” kind of athmosphere on the game.
– Controls ~ It worked. Nuff said.

What Went Wrong

– Timing ~ Note to self; don’t enter an LD competition (or it’s derivative) two weeks before exams. ESPECIALLY final exams, if you don’t want to rush the game out.
– Enemies ~ I were distracted with the gui that i almost forgot to make the enemy. It became added at last-minutes.
– Gameplay ~ It’s pretty basic and monotonic.
– 3D Art ~ Originaly, the weapon will be a manned turret with a flamethrower that runs on propane. Needless to say, i pretty much bit more than i could chew.

As always, the event have been fun, and challenging. I look forward to the next LD (if it’s not coincide with exams, that is).

I forgot to say i’m in before, so here’s a game!

So, the voting session have ended. that all we know. what we didn’t know yet, is the result of it.

Before we look at our result, and look at how our 2/3 day working turns out, i’m just gonna say two words:

Good Luck!

I am art-impaired. (Click image to entry page)

I am  art-impaired. (Click image to view  entry page)

Well, that was quick.

The first time i wasn’t sure that i want to do it,  since the theme is so… abstract (Every LD Game i played is on one screen). but here i am, come with an entry.

The idea was that you are able to know the whole game map with just one screen.

I’m in!… i hope

I heard that my profile isn’t avaliebe if i don’t post anything, so here i go!

-Unity3d (Duh)

VoxelShop (Basically a 3d voxel editor with export features. great for making placeholders)

-Paint.net (An advanced version of the old windows Paint with some Photoship Feature)

-Blender3d (I don’t have money for any advanced modelling software.)

-Bfxr (The sound-effect maker. there’s supposed to be a link in the Ludum Dare Tools website)

I’m in for the Dare

Hello, guys! i am Terrabalt, and, as the title says, i’ll be in for the 30th Ludum Dare! (it’s my first, too, so i hope this doesn’t end badly)

I’ll use Unity3D, and c# for the programming, Paint.net and Paint for art (Yeah, it will be pixely, but hey, who said it’s a bad thing?),  and sfxr and sunfox for music and sound effect. EDIT: I might use Blender too if i somehow gone the less harder, more annoying 3d Path.

I hope we all can make great games later. cheers!
