Source code and time-lapse

Posted by
Saturday, August 29th, 2015 2:06 pm

Wanted to let everyone know the source code and time-lapse video are available for our game. It’s a jam game but we still wanted to make the source available. I wish more jam games would post source. Sharing is such a big part of this competition.

And now the obligatory plug and animated gif…

Who are you? Why are you here? And what happened?

Turn off the lights, put on your headphones, and enjoy…

Dungeon Balls

Survive the depths of this terrifying dungeon … with only your balls! It gives new meaning to the word hard. I mean the game is really difficult. And I’m getting ripped because of it :( Give it a try and let me know what you think.

For this LD, to do something different, I learned and used WCK (World Construction Kit). It turns the Flash IDE into a world editor with box 2D support. As a result, it was the least amount of code I’ve had to write to make a unique game experience for LD. It was also a challenge to balance physics based game play and create a set of levels with a different challenge in each one. Next time I wont put in a timer. I promise!

Connected Words available on iOS and Android

connected-words-icon-256Rated #32 in innovation for LD30, the game is up on these major marketplaces (for free with no ads and no DRM*),

connected-words-app-store

connected-words-gp

connected-words-amazon

It managed to get through the Apple approval process on the first try (No kidding. The recent deluge of apps must have softened Apple…)

My compo version received amazing comments and really ok ratings too (no worries, I still love you guys!).

The mobile version didn’t change much from the compo one. The changes were,
* Leveling with increasing difficulty
* Retries earned based on level and tweaked scoring
* Emoji characters now display correctly (that was sooooo fun to fix)
* High scores are tracked
* Some UI fixes and improvements
* A new icon from an artist friend (Coming Soon™ to iOS).

Check it out. Try to get a score over 100 and let me know if you do. That is awesome.

* – no DRM where possible (i.e. not Apple).

What is it like to be John Cleese, Emma Watson, or Notch? Connect words to enter their worlds through the social network.

In Connected Words, you arrange words to try to figure out what people are saying.

Just listen to the reviewers!
