Well you could say both are pretty hardcore.

I started to work for a whole day on a sex game. Or more precisely, a game about masturbation. But it was just rubbish (:)) and very not fun at all. I think it could have purpose but gosh, that was very boring.

I don’t compete to win in Ludum Dare but I like to have fun things around that I can send my co workers and friends. If you want to give it a try, here is the link, click the screen

My original pitch was

You play as an homosexual spy who kills his target by masturbating them to death in a rythym game

it became

You play as a killer for hire who kills his target by masturbating them to death in a rythym game

and now it’s

You play as a male guy rubbing a dick in a dirty street.

It turns out the rythym idea wasn’t really cool and gameplay wasn’t cohesive. I plainly erased things and now I’m coming with something interesting.

I implemented the notion of rubbing speed. You now have a feedback on wether you’re too fast or too slow. If you go too fast, the guy won’t like it and you won’t allow him to reach orgasm. Weirdly, it looks like a masturbation simulator now.

I’ve been interested in the culture of sex for a long time now, and always wanted to make a game about it. I guess I’m part of making one, as masturbation isn’t the only element in sex. I removed the fun and silly part in the game : I’m not that much a funny guy. The action part quite became “puzzly”.

I’d like to make a game that’s explore sex with “honor”.

I think sex is always considered very extremely : some people hate it and will push it because they think it’s devil. Some other people will love it but only speak of it with fun, “lol just jk”. I don’t say we shouldn’t be light with it, but I think we rarely speak seriously about the act and sex culture in our countries.

Just saying, you know… Are dicks an unconventionnal weapon ?

homosexual was a useless and not really cool indication, plus there was no spy and it could be misleading.

So I had fun trying to make an “ejaculation” simulator. When you think about it, sperm doesn’t come regularly and can act a little randomly so I tried to put a little in those bursts.

Also made a quite simple sprite for sperm, it’s not really fluid like but it’ll make the thing for LD.

Gui is nicely advanced, game design on a good way, I’ll boost a little on programming now. Don’t worry, I’ll come back to you ppl for the sounds, it’ll be fun 😉

So basically, they’ll be three steps :

1/3 of the rythym game will be foreplay : slow notes, one or two lines only

1/3 of the rythym game will be “standard?” : middle pacing, two simultaneous lines. I wanted to something about rubbing/going up and down with the mouse, but not quite sure how to realize it.

1/3 of the rythym game will be orgasm : a mix of simple notes and a bashing one special notes, where basically, you’ll have to bash it until orgasm. But if you bash too much… meh.

I’d like to find one specific mechanic for each step, but I’m not still sure how to make them really fitting to the story and narration. I work on programming while I’ll find how to do them.

I’m sure you guessed how bad I am at art 😉

I made around 7 or 8 game jams and it was only in team. This will be my first compo.

My game design is basically this : You play as an homosexual spy who kills his target by masturbating them to death in a rythym game.

It will be ludicrous, offensive and with very low poly I swear. Using Unity + tk2d +bosca ceoil + audacity

Our concept is quite simple :

  • The ship is blowing off, you only get 60 seconds to get those aliens out !
  • If you die, it’s ok, you’ll be able to play it back thanks to your super back machine.
  • But the level may have change a bit…

Then the game is quite simple, but we made many things to make level design fast and stuff. We’re almost ready to enter in the tuning step ! Luckily, we’ll have all the time we need tomorrow and be able to bring the game to its full potential. Musics and sounds are almost ready too ! We still can’t choose a name, but it doesn’t really matter :)

We’re going to make a game ’bout : “You get only…” One minute to finish the level ! We’ll make some random things and stuff that’ll make replayability interesting. It’ll be a 2D plateformer made with Unity.

Hi there !

Our team @4Edges will be doing the ludum dare in team. We’ll be 8 this time because we invited 3 guests to join our ranks, we like challenges and being numerous, it’s fun you should try.

The team will be composed of 2 graphic artists, 2 developers, 1 project manager / game designer, 1 sound designer, 1 composer and 1 game designer.

In response to blackmagic, I’d just say I draw a little something about what will happen. Bwahahah….

Our multiplayer battle arena game is getting on the rails !

We’re making good progress about the graphics, not integrated yet but there, the three arena are done. We hope the game will be playable by from 1 player to 4 players on local multiplayer. Then you can battle with your friends 😉

I’m happy to say i’m doing my first jam with total strangers !

French game dev from Paris gathered to mix the skills of people who didnt have team. Then i’m working with people i didn’t know before and everything is going well.

We’re making the compo and our concept is :

” You are robots on a foreign planet, your batteries are getting low and you’ll die in 10 seconds. To survive, you need to steal their battery by shooting them.”

This intends to be a multiplayer mix between Bomberman & Binding of Isaac :)

Minimalism is already there

After 2 hours of reviewing what minimalism is, i came with some influences and emerging ideas :

  • Daft Punk new songtrack and more generally techno music
  • Michael Gondry
  • Games : Geometry wars, Super Hexagon, Snake, Fractal…
  • The big correlation between tuning and minimalism
  • Repeat the beat
  • The Shrinking Man of Matheson
  • One button games
  • Stuck on an island and keeping 3 things

My team mates Carduus & Blackmagic  are waking up at 9.00, i must get a bunch of game concept before the alarm clock rings :) !

Really willing to do something that rely on the beat, the shapes, and the idea of game mastering by minimalism.

Making a violent game about violent games

Two hours left before sending the prototype of our jam, we decided to make a little post about it.

Our game is about being a video game that spread violence. Filled with irony, we hope to bring loads of fun with both assets and gameplay.

For the assets, we inserted a lot of blood, ironic graphics and bloody sounds.

For the gameplay, we brought the basics of hide & seek. The player must seek children to make them violent, and avoid the SERB and PIG (No relationship with ESRB & PEGI evidently !)

We wanted to take stereotypes of violent video games, like weapons, blood, destruction and put them into the game. We hope this video game would be that weird and unbelievable that the relationship game/violence is kind of ridiculous.

Gamers think video games are innocent and pure. BUT THEY AREN’T.

Really, and we made a video game about this : play these evil video games contaminating the tiny children out of the schools. But beware, the ESRB and PIG institutes are watching for you ! Try to spread the plague of violent video gaming before they get you. Get your video game on the hall of fame. Will you be the most evil plague ever created on earth ? Finally, a video game about being a video game. Aren’t they the best villain ever ?
