Time to do the dishes! And the bed. And pretty much everything else!. Image below is pretty much a summary of my ambitions this time:
10 PRINTLN "Atari 520STFM"
20 GOTO 10
Ludum Dare 35 | Ludum Dare 34 | Ludum Dare 33 | Ludum Dare 32 |
MiniLD #58 | Ludum Dare 31 | Ludum Dare 30 | Ludum Dare 29 |
In for LD#32 solo compo!
This time, maybe I’ll try something with VS2015 and Javascript just to see how that toolchain works… or I’ll go back to trusty haxeflixel again … dunno. We will see. Hope there will be a theme that give me some inspiration as well 8)
Third time, third solo compo entry. Will probably use HaXe and HaxeFlixel again. But will probably depend on the theme this time – libgdx and HTML5 export seems pretty capable nowadays.
Haven’t really resonated with any of the themes I’ve come upon in the theme slaughter, but that might change. A three week relentless cold has made me a grumpy d00d indeed. Maybe I’ll make a game about the horrors of living in the north, fighting ice, polar bears and colds … er… mostly colds.
Hope I’m fresh in the head for a 48h session of extended Fredagsmys(R) with #LD31!
My head is spinNnNnNning!
This the intro screen, very blue:
I used HaxeFlixel + Flash again! Art was done in PS and Filter Forge! Music and FX in FL Studio.
Division by zero and null pointers were heavily used in the development process!!!
And now I will clean up my home, because things have been … neglected.
Time to enter the #LD30 compo! I will probably use HaxeFlixel + Flash again. Art will be made in PS with some help from Filter Forge. Music and FX in FL Studio. I also plan to include division by zero and null pointers in the development process – they are simply a must!
My goal this time is to do something a bit more creative and focus more on win/lose balance. Whatever I make it will also be 2D. Because 2D rocks!
Njnmnm.. Conclusions so far: HaxeFlixel has been very good and supportive to work with. I’m so glad I did not decide to write my own engine in raw HaXe and OpenFL this time – yeesh what stress that would’ve brought.
Also tried to run the game on my Nexus 7 and it worked flawlessly on the first compile! Who-ho!
Made a MainMenu and then 5 levels with Tiled. This LD experience gives lots of hands down learning with lots of software – just as I hoped. Spent 2+ hours on some silly particle effects, they look very corny but adds some p-zazzz to the game. Currently FlashDevelop is a bit buggy due to my morning re-install of everything.
All in all this has been a very productive day. It feels so good messing with “vaporware” instead of “seriousware-that-will-redefine-gaming-as-sloths-know-it” and all that horrible back-stabbing perfectionism. Looking at what others bring, the (visual) range is from “jaw-dropping-incredible” to “screen.addRectangle(0,0,32,32,0xFFFFFF);” (programmer art at it’s best!).
Will probably add some sounds / music tomorrow. FL Studio, we will meet again.
This game will be pure awe-some!!! In this game you will play as a Guppy and your mission is to avoid the Sharks! And umm, yeah, that’s pretty much it. (Don’t forget the balls.. there will be probably lot’s of em because they give … points?).
Had to reinstall OpenFL/HaxeFlixel because of strange compiler errors. Now first level is up and running. This is about 6 hours of work from scratch (and lot’s of help from HaxeFlixel TiledEditor demo sample).
Whelp, this is scary serious stuff. Maybe a game gets made?
Tools used for the entry in #LD29 will be HaXe/OpenFL. Initial target will be Flash. I have no hopes of making anything a-mazing. This is to get some competition experience.
Time to snatch that sword. There might be bushes to slay…
