Base code update

I’ve written a little base code project I’m going to start with.

It’s fairly simple and is available here.

To recap, it uses libgdx. If I fancy some postprocessing shader stuff, I’ll use the PostProcessor class from here, and if I need to do some pathfinding, I have my own simple A* implementation I wrote which is available right here.

Probably. Unless something awful comes up.

I will be using libgdx for my game since I’ve spent a lot of time with it working on Jetpackman (way outdated screenshots etc there). If I fancy some shader stuff, I might use the PostProcessor class from here.

Finally, if I need to do some pathfinding, I have my own simple A* implementation I wrote which is available right here.

Those libraries together with what comes out of the libgdx project generator (which doesn’t generate any kind of game logic etc) forms the code base I’ll be using.

Game progress

So, here’s my game in its current state. Pretty ugly so far since I’m focusing entirely on gameplay for now. Actually I’m working on the interface to the gameplay.

I came up with the idea about 2 hours ago, I’m not sure when I started working. It’ll basically be Frozen Synapse meets 2d platformer: plan out your next 10 seconds of moves using nodes, press play and see how it goes.That’s all for now.

Hello.

I’m not sure I’ll be participating. It seems very interesting, but I’ve never even finished a game project before.

I’m also not sure what tools I’ll be using. Do I have to decide that ahead of time?

Probably Unity + Blender though.
