Finished my first Ludum Dare

2 days of hard work, a lot of fun, and a lot of time spent staring at a screen.

The game is called carnage and you play as a demon with a hatred for humanity.

The game is far from perfect, but I’m quite proud of myself for what I achieved in just 2 days. I didn’t know I had it in me.

I’ve just got a few bugs to squash, and a pause menu. Otherwise the game is finished quite far ahead of schedule. I should probably eat at some point today…

Its almost midnight here in the UK and I’m about to call it a day, but here is the progress so far.



Player mechanics are done, as is the core AI. High score table added. I won’t go into detail on the mechanics yet, but its a top down Diablo style game based on destruction.

This is my first game jam and I’m quite excited. I’m a little late to the party but I’ve decided to take part in this ludum dare and see what happens.

There is a good chance I won’t finish the game on time but I’m sure I’ll enjoy it.

Here’s the tools I will be using:

  • Unity3d (4.0) as the game engine
  • Blender and GIMP for art assets
  • SFXR for audio assets
