Hi everyone!

I will be participating in this Ludum Dare because I feel that it is a good way to practice making games!

Also at the end of the month after working on the same game for a while I am sure it will  help give me more excitement for working on games again!

I will be using Gamemaker Studio, Aseprite and Sunvox for music!

Level Grow Op Finished

In a world where 2 Buttons Control a single door, the mighty hero called Samantha must jump move through the level, jump across dangerous ledges and gaps in order to beat the game to stop the levels from growing larger!

This is my first game in Javascript and Phaser that I learned over the weekend! It was pretty easy to get the hang of it after I figured out how to switch levels!

I had a really fun time of finally finishing a game with 5 levels and am proud of what I have done with animation and drawing as best as I can for the time I had.

I intend to make better games in the future that have more story and better game mechanics!

Now I will relax a bit and then start playing and rating your games!

Double Jump or Wall Jump

Hi I am trying to decide which game mechanic I should add to my game to make it more fun!

The point of the game so far is to touch two buttons that control the unlocking a door while the Levels grow in size!

New Language New Engine New Challenge

Hi everyone! So day 1 I was going to be using Unity and making a 2D platformer game. But I found out that making collision detection and level design in 2D was hard in Unity.

Therefore I decided to learn a different language and engine because I have the time to do so this weekend.

I in turn decided to go with html, Javascript and Phaser for the library. There are many great tutorials so making a platformer game should be easy. At least I thought.

I have had problems from figuring out how to switch scenes (Fixed), Loading in level design from Tiled (Fixed) and also some issues with players colliding in walls which I mostly fixed.

Now all I have to do is make animation, drawings, some kind of gameplay, and add levels and fancy stuff at the end.

So this weekend has been very productive for me! I wish good luck to everyone else and hope you do not give up!

Hi everyone this is about my 3rd or 4th LDJAM but the other jams I have either not completely finished a game or kept on changing ideas halfway through development.

Tools: Unity 2D V5.3, Visual Studio C#, Paint.Net, Audacity

My goals for this jam are to:

Have fun/Working Game play Mechanics

Actually Finish a complete Game

Make sure that Cameras work for different computers

Have Fun game developing!

Not the best but getting it.

Then have to add in ladder climbing, and door advancing to the next level.

Hi Everyone!

After 5 or so hours of programming in Lua and Love2d

I have gotten some of my Game mechanics to work!

Story: You are a Piano Man and you have to save the Treble Clef from Enemies by Shooting Music Notes from the Piano/Keyboard!

Changing Codebase

Hi everyone!

I posted earlier that I was going to use Gdevelop but I’ve decided that will be my back up software.

Instead I will be coding with Lua and Love2D + Notepad++ and Paint.Net!

I will most likely make a point click adventure as I am coding the library for it now as I am doing the Jam.

I figure it would be good to start with something simple and work my way up in Love2d!

I also will be using my new wacom touch and pen tablet for drawing the scenes!

Hopefully I will draw good art!

Change of Plans!

So I recently posted that I was using Gdevelop, but I will be using that as a back up program.

Instead I will be using Love2D because I just figured out how to do basic collision detection!

Next Step is to figure out how to allow the player to move along the edges of the object.

Then, I need to learn tile loaders, and physics and then I will be ready for the Jam!

One Screen Game Progress Update 2

Hi everyone I have been coding for about 2 and a half hours and have come up with a good idea and good progress on my game. (As seen below)

I have ran into the problem that Gamemaker Studio free can only had 15 objects in one game so I’ve had to work around that by keeping the same general themes for the 8 levels, Caves (Brown), Snow(White), Grasslands (Green) and Mountains (gray).

This has been a drawback and I have decided to keep going but next time I’d like to learn a different software to make games.

But regardless I will finish this game tomorrow, So Far I have implemented Spikes in the Cave levels that go up and down and if you (Player as the head) collide with them when they are out of the ground, you die.

I have also added some SNOWMEN to avoid in the snow level, as I know many people wanted the snowman as the theme so I decided to put in what the people want.

Although this is a very simple design and game, I’d rather have it simple and finish it then not simple and never finish.

As you can see you go through all biomes per say to get to the 3rd in the bottom row to finish the game!

I will work on the level design of the other levels tomorrow as for now I need some rest!

Progress Report 1

Hi everyone! Progress report number 1! As shown by the Picture below, I have decided to have different sections on the screen to represent different Levels in the Game! To make the game longer than 30 seconds, I think I should figure out a way to make it so that when a player finishes the game, the boxes move each time you go to the end and to the beginning, increasing the challenge of the game, including possibly some holes to fall in, lava, and fire as well as enemies!
