Have you ever heard the history of traffic lights? The world’s first, manually operated gas-lit traffic signal was short lived. Installed in London in December 1868, it exploded less than a month later, injuring or killing its policeman operator. Luckily, mankind has progressed since the 19th century, but what if you were the operator of the now ancient technology: manual traffic lights?

…I’ve thought about the following:

  • James Bond underwater car
  • Osprey Simulator
  • A-team van combined with Airwolf helicopter

…so feel free to steal them if you are out of ideas, because I’m going with another idea! It will not be easy, but as a certain Kennedy said:

We choose to go to the moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard, because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills, because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and one which we intend to win.

…is stop and go to sleep when everything is working as you want – then it’s easier to get started in the morning. I’ve had a terrible few hours with a failed road algorithm, but now I have another idea for tomorrow that will hopefully work out much better!

…or growing trucks? Anyway, up at 7AM on a Saturday :S #eurotrash. Brainstorming until 9AM, came up with ideas like growing crops on Mars and various crazy things, but ended up with growing trucks. I have no idea where this is going to end up…

What I learned from the last competitions was to spend more time making the game fun. So the idea is to make something more simple and then spend a lot of more time making it more fun!

I’m finished! After the last Ludum Dare (when I crashed and burned) I had nightmares before this weekend (about someone stealing my supplies). Anyway, this is the idea:

An alien invasion has trapped civilians inside their houses. Your mission is to rescue as many of them as you can with the help of a Saab 900 Monster Truck.

…because modeling is done. The Saab can also drive around and crush aliens, which will produce gigantic amounts of green gore. Now on to missiles to kill those nasty saucers (and a few other thousand items on the todo-list :S)

It took a little bit longer than expected (had to learn how to animate in Blender and use animations in Unity), so God knows if I will have time to finish a game. But the Corgi can walk, walk fast, turn, move backwards, wag its tail. So at least I learned something new…
