So i’m in! Wow 2 themes tho pick from, this will be an exciting LD I’m not really sure what i want to make yet but i think it’s going to have to be fairly simple mechanics( Yay for only two buttons), but ill probably be using jmonkey engine, blender and gimp. Good luck everyone

A bit late to the party!!!!
Saturday, December 12th, 2015 12:49 amSo when at first when i heard the theme ‘minimalism’ i was a bit frustrated. This is a terrible theme i thought, more like a constraint. And then i did some research and googleing and realized it is actually not that bad at all. As far as i can tell minimalism is often a symptom of OCD and. So i’m making my game about a character who has OCD and his roommate or friend comes in and messes up your few perfectly placed possessions. You as the player have to re-organise these in a specific time limit. so it’s like a memory puzzle game.
I’ve got the engine down and now i just have to add the gameplay and make it pretty!
Well i’m ready for day two, are you????
So i made an unnecessarily violent game about squashing bunnys for the warm up and i’m happy with the quality and the time it took(4-5 hours). It’s not much but it’s kinda fun i think. Play it here if you want
So After a month or so of pretty relaxed programming I’ve finally finished my first game. For me this is a big thing, I’ve finally stuck with an idea through good and bad and got a finished product. Basically I’d really appreciate it if some of you amazing people on this site could play and tell me what you think. It’s uploaded here at staticvoidgames(This website is great)
SCREENSHOTS:
So for LudumDare25 i created a pseudo 3D bank robbing game. At first i thought it was a really great idea but i bit off far more than i could chew.
THE GOOD:
- I made a passable 2.5D ray caster from scratch with no libraries.
- It was in a playable state by the end(Ill get into that later).
- I HAD FUN
THE BAD:
- For some reason some people have been saying that it’s unplayable. I can’t understand why because i built it on a computer with a 600mhz processor and 2g of ram, so I’m fairly sure it’s not a performance problem.
- There was only one level, one enemy, and and one objective.
- There was no sound or polish.
THE UGLY
- There were two horrid bugs, one that crashed the game and the other that rendered sprites through walls(Can’t believe i neglected to fix that ).
- The frame rate did drop once you got really close to sprites.
IN CONCLUSION:
I made a video of me playing the game in the uploaded state on my PC to show you what it should look like.
All in all though i had a great LD and i can’t wait for the next one. Can’t wait to play everyone’s games.
(try 😉 )Play it here
Watch the video here
P.S the frame rate in the video is shocking mostly because i live streamed that and my internet is crap
cheers, kix
Hey all, just thought i’d give a quick update on my progress. basically your a bank robber breaking into a bank(NO SHIT), and you have to fight your way in. The concept isn’t very creative but i am making it in 2.5d so it’s one hell of a challenge. So far iv’e got the engine going(Lots of bugs but its workable), sprites and and am in the process of adding the shooting mechanism
I hope everyone else is loving this as much as me. and good luck!

Iv’e finished my Game(?? to the best of my abilities )
Sunday, November 25th, 2012 3:23 amSo i’ve finished my mario game. The levels are procedurally generated, with a little variation, and the aim is to get as far as you can. You can find it here at Staticvoidgames. Anyway i had fun and i live streamed an hour or two of coding so if you can be bothered check it out. I hope everyone else has as much fun as i did.

So iv’e decided to make a charity game and upload it to Staticvoidgames. I’m basically going to make a never ending mario running mash-up game. I think ill use the original sprites off the nes to keep with the theme as well.Well time to get coding

So I know that this website is mostly for games and stuff but last night i decided to try and do some networking stuff. So i sat my butt down in front of Eclipse, coded for about 2 1/2 hours and finished a simple chat server and client and started having conversations with my self. If anyone is interested in the source code ill upload it for you. Basically i am hoping this will be like a stepping stone to making multiplayer games .

So this is the first playable demo of what was my October challenge(Clearly not finished in time). Anyways, i decided to pick it up last night and I’ve got it to a playable state(I think???) . I’d really appreciate it if some people could play it and give me some feed back as this is one of the first games I’ve finished
Here’s the link…
Well I got distracted by social life and didn’t do a thing for ludumdare. Many next time Kix
Well at the last minute i decided to check the theme and now im in for LD24. I might bail out half way through but we will see. Good Luck everyone
Well More went wrong than went right in terms of my game, but the amount of fun i had and things i learned trumps that.
WHAT WENT WRONG:
1.Firstly i didn’t spend enough time thinking about a game to make(WORST MISTAKE EVER!), So it ended up as a collage of things ive always wanted to try.
2.I tried to implement to many things into my game at once and therefore they didn’t work properly or as well as they could.
3.LEARN MORE ABOUT ARRAYLISTS!!!! I used an arraylist to render and collide my enemies which sometimes(As I later found out) randomly throws an error crashing the whole program!
4. Monitor my time more closely(I probably should of tested more often and got other people to play my game)
WHAT WENT RIGHT:
1. I Got my game in a playable state(…?)
2.I made a tile map thing that i could easily change(Never tied it before)
3. I Quite liked the art that i went back and drew more carefully.
IN A NUTSHELL:
I had a heap of fun and will get to play some games(can’t wait) And I hope other peoples postmortems are more positive than mine. Ill be back for the next LD48 thats for sure.
About 5 hours in and I’ve got a nice little tilemap, sprite engine. I’m thinking of a sort of tower defense survival thing where waves of enemies are out to get you! But so far so good, here is a screenshot
if you can be bothered here is a link to play the current version(Not much happens)Its an executable jar so just run it and go

hope everyone else is having as much fun as me
