Slightly better art changes

Since I woke up this morning, I’ve been slowly redoing the art so it doesn’t look as bad as it did. It’s still not great and I’ll likely continue to change it once I get the base game done but I could enter it as it is and be happy with how it looks.

Right now, I’ve got all the enemies implemented so I’m just working on getting the levels to have a nice smooth difficulty curve which is difficult to do whenever the enemies movements are mostly random besides the initial second of the level.

I woke up this morning with no idea of what I was going to do to fit the theme. I started with a game that involved teleporting the player around to reach the goal but later decided on doing a side-scrolling shooter as I haven’t done one before.

This is what I have so far, a block for the player and badly drawn enemys. The background scrolls currently which I’m happy with for now but a large part of my time will be spend making it look far better that it currently is. In its current state it functions as a game with the player being able to shoot the enemys but I haven’t decided on how progression will be managed, if I manage it in levels or one constantly scrolling screen.

Changing to what I have

My original plan this weekend was to make a nice little game that played well. Something came up and I ended up following the contest from a laptop which I can’t download anything for due to limited memory space (not exactly the best laptop in the world) so I decided to make a text based game. In it you play as a scientist who has a micro planet which simulates the evolution of the earth and everything on it. So you can go through the ages and see the earth. At this current point the furthest I’ve got are the first humans and that is the 3rd scene you can go to. I’m aiming for about 10 main scenes with polished writing and a linear  path with little branching points that just expand on stuff, often just being a joke scene.  So not much of a game, more like a choose your own adventure book without the choosing or the adventure. Maybe that will change, time will tell.

Deciding to enter

So considering I’ve been following the past few Ludum Dares I’ve decided to try to get something made.
