So I didn’t do too much yesterday, very hungover today though. Think I’ll be able to finish it off though.
I made 3 levels yesterday and added zooming + a line to where you’re mouse is, so basically nothing.

Most of it’s done.

I got most of the stuff I wanted to do done today, going out in a bit and I’ll probably be hungover most of tomorrow. Got a lot done though! Its a very simple game and pretty generic I think.

I’ve finished sleeping now. I went to bed at 6am. I’m still super tired and probably will have a nap later. Going to get as much done before Doctor Who and then I’m heading out for the night.

Basically I need to get as much done between now and 3pm as possible. I don’t have very much at the moment sadly, but its a start and I think I know how the puzzle element will work.

Will post updates as I go.

Well. That was a productive weekend. I think I’ve actually finished a Ludum Dare! Yeppeeee!

Although I will have to enter it into the Jam (as my friend Alex created the graphics).

I will enter it soon but I have a tiny bit of polishing to do before I’m done.

Slowly throughout the day, I lost motivation for the project. I guess I re-found it when I made the planets orbit but by then I was just exhausted and didn’t want to finish the bullets. So the bullets are not finished in this download but you can play with them, if you are moving and you push space it will fire the laser/bullet/projectile thing. It won’t fire if you are not moving.

Anyway enjoy and I will see you all tomorrow to finish bullets and add some enemies!

Damn family chores, I should give everyone a heads up that the Ludum Dare is coming before dedicating to this, I should make it though as I have the rest of the evening off. Its also my first time attempting any form of projectiles so the bullets through me off a bit. They are nearly finished. I’ve also just implemented a form of orbit, so that planets can move around the sun. It adds a nice feel to the game and makes it seem more interactive. I’ve also just scrapped the tile map system at this point because it just doesn’t work for a game like this. I need to fix up the bullets a bit and then I can create an enemy class and try to add multiple enemies.

Oh well, I’m sure you get the picture.

Back to coding!

Back! I’ve textured the stars and the barren planets. I also added stars and a texture for the ship. It now rotates as you move and there is also a bit of drift like in asteroids.

Need to code bullets, meteors, enemies, and earth-like planets.
I also need to display some information on the screen (eg: health)
Looks like I might be done quite soon.

Started late. Family chores. 30 minutes in.
This time I won’t try and pull off any fancy tricks like last time which meant I couldn’t enter (applet permissions issues).
The idea for this is that you are a tiny spaceship and you can collect stuff or something of the sort. I’d like to try and add some form of a space battle into it and a particle system but that might be too difficult for the time given. Oh well, we will see where we go!
Basic game idea is nailed, the base game is also sorted. I’ve got movement, a tilemap, collisions and I’m just starting to work on player damage.

Going to grab some cake and I’ll get right back to it.

Need to add graphics tomorrow and possibly make a few more levels. Apart from that I’m practically done. I’m thinking 15 levels total but as the map editor is paint you should be able to send maps in after I submit. Heres a screenshot. Off to bed now!

After about an hour I finished up the map editor(paint). I can load as many levels as I want and I now have the rest of the competition to add levels and new blocks. Yay! Right now, off to get some food. Here is a screenshot of the map editor.

Its taken forever to actually sit down and get started. First 9 hours asleep. The rest thinking of an idea, playing Minecraft and making this. The idea is that you are a cube. You navigate through mazes and obstacles to reach the other cube. Ties into the theme because you and your other cube have been seperated and need to rejoin. I might change the sprites towards the end if there is time to something like people.
Right. Onto the map editor! Probably going to read from images :)

Really all I will do is make a sprite for them that looks like they are flying but meh, close enough. Please don’t judge on graphics which I am sure you won’t. Key’s from 1-9 are assigned to certain spells and you have to select the enemy first. I may add a boss fight if there is enough time.
