Glad to know that Ludum Dare will still happen after all. Unfortunately, work comes first. So I won’t participate this time.

At least, a game idea appears in my head and seems simple to do, so maybe I will make it later.

Hello, everyone.

Yes, I will take part of it again because I can! Yay! Well, I didn’t make or improve any game since August. But anyway, here I am. This time with a new PC!!

As always, my weapons of choice are:

  • Engine: Game Maker Studio
  • Graphics: GraphicsGale
  • Music/audio: Sunvox, BFXR, Audacity
  • Paper and pencil.

Well, 2 days had passed since the Ludum Dare 33’s Jam Submission ends. And I didn’t presented my game on a post?! Bad! Very bad!!

So, here is it: My game is called C.L.E.M. (the long name is a secret xD)

You can play and rate it right here. Also, I’ll appreciate if you leave some feedback to the game. It will help me to make a better game and a better game developer.

Well, the story is simple. You are a monster. A good one. And must escape from his captors: The humans.

For now the place is a laboratory (sort of). And the enemies are soldiers. Those will shoot you if you are close enough. A one hit kill. Also they follow a surveillance path.

The game’s progress is not too bad. Some graphics assets were made (if I have the time I’ll add some more animations to go up and down) and the movement code is there. Butt definitely the worst part was to do the enemy AI.

I don’t have experience beforehand to create the soldier’s path. So I improvise and create the blue objects you see there. Of course they won’t be visible. But the chase…well, I don’t know path-finding, so I will leave it in a basic form. No time to tweak with it.

Now, I need to think on level design, screens (title, game over, intro, etc.), music and sound. Also, the game still doesn’t have a name!!

The idea appears after 1 hour, but I though that it’s mechanics will be too much for the time. But after taking some features as “wishlist”, the idea was ready to begin.

So, at least I finished with the collisions and depths of the player with tiles.

Now, to make the rest xD

Excited for this LD, but unfortunately I can’t take part of it. I will be traveling that weekend, so my free time won’t be enough to do it.

Progress so far!! Doing art now!!

Gameplay is good enough (I want to add more gameplay content, but the time…).

ToDo List:

  • Art: Ending player animations, some sprites and title, credits and a bigger font
  • Audio: In wait.
  • Music: In wait.
  • Polish: Wishlist.

I didn’t sleep this night, so I’m tired. But I have to continue.

24 hours later, I have the basic gameplay running, including pause, lose and re-play. Also, the “title screen” and “credits screen” were added.

Now the focus is to add some gameplay content to spicy it up and the rest: graphics, audio and music xD

But, at least I have a game.

The first Ludum Dare I enter was the #23 one. Also, it’s was the only successful one…the other ones I failed because I lacked willpower.

So it’s time to enter again. With determination.

I got an idea for this jam. It will be about grabbing objects one at time and move them to another place. Is the basic idea. Right now I’m testing the lifting and dropping action.
