Here we go, after some hours, I passed my first milestone : building an house by building some walls.

Islands. It was the theme of the last Ludum Dare I participed ! You known what it is, LD happen 3 times a year, it’s so easy to think “oh, I will participate next time, I will do something else this week end”. I think that there is a complot from people I know who seems wanting see me doing anything else during Ludum Dare. Yesterday, someone proposed to go to the fun fair that will open this evening but I said no, so it’s ok, nothing can impech me to participate \o/ !

For the technical part, I will use Python with Pygame and my IDE will be Geany which I use every day on my Ubuntu.

Maybe you are asking yourself if I’m really 10 years old when you see the poorness of my expression. The answer is no, I’m 20 but I’m french. So I don’t speak english : I just speak french with english words. Note that I don’t use google translate or any translators, so if you want to say “hey, you made a grammar error here !” just do it ! Maybe I will progress a little.

Ps: don’t forget to use a free-licence for your game if it’s what you want :).
Ps2: now, I’m thinking that I must use a (D)VCS for the LD, it will better. Damn, it’s still not a reflexe for me :(.

Hi ! I am a french participant, so I work on this new theme since 3 hour. Very hard to find an idea at the begining but I have think to Age of empires and the idea is here !

So, I will try to make a game which happend on an island (hello LD17). This island has only monk for guards and is like a tower defence except that the monk must convert the ennemies for kill other ennemies.

For the moment, I draw just an island and I work on the pathfinding, thanks to John Eriksson for his library Astar for python : http://arainyday.se/projects/python/AStar/ .

Oh, yes, I forgot that, I will use Python and pygame.

Finish Island

So, I have finish since few hours and I can presente NoNameIsland to you !
This morning I have add few features like description of buildings and evolutions. This afternoon, I have add content and equilibrate the game.

WIP2

This evening, I tried to make a windows executable with py2exe. Three hours after, nothing does work, runtime error when I launch the executable. I have use some script for pygame with py2exe. So I am sorry, but you must have python and pygame to play.
For playing, just launch main.py.

This game is like a tycoon game. You can place red flags on case for say that migrants can build their house.
If people have beautiful house, electricity and water, they generate happiness. More your Island generate happiness, more the migrants want to go on your Island.

For have information about buildings, just right click on it.

People on Island will work. When a building is often upkeep, it can evolve.

Hi everybody ! It’s 11H30PM here ! Time to go to sleep.
Before, I will make a list of things that I have done since morning.
– Draw text
– Build buildings
– Evolve buildings
– Residents can work

Tomorrow, I must do :
– Screen which describe the buildings
– Help for how to play, what is for what
– Needs for the residents
– Content ! New buildings, texts, evolutions, ….

Hello ! I’m now here !
First, I am french, and I was not so courageous for wake up at 4H00 AM. I’m now here since 8H30 AM.
The subject seem to be really cool !! My idea : a tycoon game.
The game start with an desert island and one people go on to live in. You have to improve his standards of living.
For that you must to build some building with the money that people give to you.

For the moment, I have just display a rectangular island on the screen.

Oh, before I continue, I want to say that I use Python and Pygame.

I will participate to this new challenge. The main theme is “monochrome” and I have choose the second theme “build the level you play”.
My idea ? A background in green (yes, it is really beautifull, the green) and a small character who need to go in a goal.
With your mouse you can make a segment which is dark. The character can move on this, but he is few lazy, and stupid, like a lemming. But be carrefull, segments become gradually light and when the segment has the background’s color, it disappear ! So if are not attentive, he will fall and, if this fall is too long, you loose ! So, I must begin the code …

I have not choose a good plan, make a car simulator is too hard and long the first time (my previously mini-games was other). A tycoon game would be more easy … So … I will try to make better for the next LD !

The name is Boring Roads, Stupids Cars and Crazy Child, it is a good description.

I have been slowed by two things : collisions and scrolling, for the scrolling, it is ok, but collisions with pygame … I hope that I will have enought time to fix it.
Tomorrow, I will begin with the end of scrolling, then I will improve IA, make missions, buildings and signals.

I had two ideas, the first was to make a tycoon game. Good idea, but 48H for make a tycoon game is too short ! It can’t be advanced, so it would not be very playable. So I will make a car-simulator in 2D. In this game, you will might be carefull to the conduit code (french conduit code, because I doesn’t know other code). The first step is to make a car which can forward on a linear and repetitive road. The background (road and grass) has been drawed, now, I will make the most difficult : the car. For this, I will use Inkscape.

Later ….
Now, I have a vitesse indicator.
