Moon Dozer is out!

It was a hard jam, our 7th consecutive and the first one we use 3D graphics. Original concept was pretty ambitious so many things were cut but the core gameplay is there. Creating literally a whole world is a 7 day job not a 3 one xD.

You can find our entry here: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/$27300

Now finally time to rest :) (and celebrate my birthday).

End of day 1

Made it on time!

And with 1:30 hours left :O.

Here is Life Before Texting. I made it on the spare moments I had during last 3 days (less than I would like indeed).

Captura de pantalla 2016-08-29 a las 23.02.58

You can play it here.

By the way I noticed 2 issues at submitting, the first is the only category to be judged is overall, is this normal?

The other is I can’t rate games. I guess I can’t before jam ends? It’s my 5th time but I think I never finished before time xD.

Now playing time! :)

Mandatory I’m in post

Here we are one more time. Here I am one more time rather, because like last summer I’m facing this Ludum Dare alone. Not a big deal but game will be way less fancy than if I did it with my usual partner ;(. Poorly made sprites and no music will be features of this entry (if I make it).

Negativities aside, I’ll be using the usual equipment. Unity, Gimp and cfxr gonna be there for sure, and maybe something new :).

Oh, before I forget, my partner made a little game for android phones and tablets, check it out!

Just another we’re in post

Nothing important to say actually, I just wanted to keep the old I’m in post tradition. This gonna be our 4th LD, all of them in a row.

As usual 2D game made with Unity, gorgeous pixel art and catchy music granted! Don’t miss it! 😀

Here we go again

Well, this one will be our third LD in a row, and the second we do the whole team after the summer one-man entry.

As usual I’ll be using Unity as engine and GIMP for speed graphic-editing. I think Graphic designer will use Pyxel Edit for pixel art for the first time in a jam, and may be 3D Studio. Yes, we have 3D power now! 😀 We will use it? It depends on the theme. Personally I don’t like it any of the finalists however we will come up with something.

I think this post is already absurdly long enough to keep talking about our development process, time-zone delayed start 6 hours after the jam starts, and other boring stuff as long this post will be drowned in the abyss in a few minites.

So good luck and enjoy the trip! :)

Edit: sorry for the blank space, I’m not able to delete it easly on the phone :(.

HotMop little postmortem

Well after a few days of playing games and relaxing a little it’s time to write about what we did on our first ludumdare.

I’m  quite satisfied with the result in the end, even if some things were left out due to a lack of time and we didn’t adjust the gameplay as much as we would have loved.

HotMop

– What went well:

At first, the theme selection was really fast. We started on saturday morning, and we spend like an hour or so deciding the theme, after a few ideas we both liked the super secret janitor who “saves” the world discreetly sliping suspects into the staff room.

I think we managed to get a nice feeling of sweeping over the floor, and a relaxed  ambience during the gameplay (we thought that a bossa nova theme would add some funny ambience with people sliping through the floor).

I’m not really sure if was something that went well, but I liked the visuals we managed to get, simple ones, but i think they do the job.

-What went not so well: (or bad)

As our first jam it turns out that we had to change a little the scope of the game. The initial plan, was to only get in the staff room those people who were suspects, like someone wearing a moustache, or a black suitcase, but at the end it tourned out that we had no time implementing those things.

I also think that we had to spend a little more time adjusting the janitor movement over the screen, slowing him down, sometimes it gets really hard to control, but again with so many things to do we didn’t realize we had more to do here.

I would have loved to add also more than three  NPC characters, like women, old people moving slowly, kids and another janitor to control, but we had no time for it.

In the end, it was something very fun to do, and I hope I will be here for next ones.

You can play or download our game here if you want to have a try!

Game art: Coconuten

Music: Luisito as a special guest for guitar riff and Coconuten

Not a big thing but we’re happy we manged to finish in time. Not bad to be our first LD thought :). Special mention to music, we had a special guest :D.

HotMop is already done. Just a couple more of graphic adjustments and finish mixing original music. OST may be best part of the whole game so it worths the wait.

In the while there is the Title Screen:

This is how it looks the game right now. No more question marks :(.

Tomorrow: game title and logo, end state, insert all the remaining sprites, polishing everywhere, mix and implement sound.

If I sleep for 5 hours I’ll still have 15 before deadline. Hope!!!

End of a looong day 1

This is the state of the game so far (sorry for the low frame rate, first time I make a video like this :P):

Still a lot of questions as you can see. Tomorrow we will answer a few of them.

Oh, and for first time in history, I will dev a game with a full original soundtrack. Kind a thing for me :D.

A questioning game

We started like 4 hours ago (European timezone). While I’m waiting for the firsts assets this is how it looks the game so far:

What’s all this about? I’ll keep the secret just a bit more.

PD: sorry for the low resolution, it won’t happen again :S.

Soo… it looks like we’re in! :)

Hello everyone! We’re a couple of game developer enthusiasts facing our first Ludum Dare this weekend. We’re pretty excited about this even if we still don’t know how far we will get. Of course our intention is to release something before the deadline even if it’s a crappy game :D.

This are the tools I’ll be using as developer:

– Unity3D + MonoDevelop

– GIMP for speed graphic editing

My friend will do all the art. If nothing changed he will probably use GraphicsGale for glorious pixel art and animations.

Also I talked to other friends to make original music and effects but I don’t think they gonna show up :P. So probably we are going to use free music and effect assets from the web.

That’s all for the moment, happy dev and see you on saturday guys :).
