Evening all!
Here’s a short summary of my day and what I have accomplished. If it sounds vague it might probably definitely be because of tiredness
BREAKING NEWS
I’m in.
So yes, this will be fun because I have exams on tuesday and thursday, but there is no way I’m going to let that ruin my 7 Ludum Dare streak.

Hey everyone,
I’ve compiled a small list of super useful talks/articles with information that will make your Ludum Dare experience much better. They range from improving your core mechanics to getting your game played. Hope you enjoy!
The Four-Hour Game Design by Jonatan Söderström, a really humoristic talk with information on several aspects of jamming.
Juice it or lose it by Martin Jonasson and Petri Purho, a talk that focusses specifically on how to “juice” up your game.
30 tiny tricks to make your action game feel better by Jan Willem Nijman. A downloadable game/presentation about simple ways to improve your (action) game.
Download here (exe only unfortunately)
10 Tips for Jammers – How to get your game jam game played by Paul Hack. This article focusses on well, getting your game played.

Hey everyone!
Just sometime before I’m heading to bed I’ll write a blog post. Today I woke up and started with a meeting with the whole Atomic Vikings crew. We have decided on a cool concept and everyone started working on it. Except for me, because I’m the sound guy so I’m starting a bit later to work on that game.
So I started working on my own game, at first I had no clue about what I should make. After a while I decided I wanted to make a simple ‘sit back and enjoy the ride’ kind of game, without a clear concept in mind except for something related to tasks that you get every 10 seconds. These tasks would not be obligatory.
After a few hours I had this:
A really simple, cute looking platformer. I decided I wanted to continue into this art direction and now I have a lot of assets in that style, as well as a fitting concept with artistic value.
I’m happy with the looks so far, I still need to make quite some levels, all the SFX and also the music so this might end up as a jam project. I do already have a menu though!
Hey everyone,
I’m up for my 7th Ludum Dare. This will be good again!
Programming: Game Maker 8.1
GFX: Paint.NET/Flash CS6/Photoshop CS6
SFX: SFXR/my Roland SH-201 synthesizer
Music: LSDj running on GBC/Ableton Live / The synthesizer mentioned before
But wait.. why am I double in?!
I have recently joined Atomic Vikings and I’m the musician in the team. We will be doing the jam and I’ll be making the music on the last day of the jam after the compo is finished, here is our we’re in post!

Hey folks!
I’ll be participating in Ludum Dare yet again, even though I have to prepare for finals. 2cool4school I guess! I’ll be using my usual game jam setup again:
Programming: Game Maker 8.0
GFX: Paint.NET/Flash CS4/Photoshop CS5
SFX: SFXR/my Roland SH-201 synthesizer
Music: LSDj running on GBC/DS running GBC emulator running LSDJ/Ableton Live
See you this weekend folks!
This is my post-mortem for my Ludum Dare 25 game, Kleptomaniac. Kleptomaniac is a topdown-stealth game, you can check it out here.
What went well:
What went wrong:
Overall I think the game turned out okay. It’s definitely not the best game I ever made but people seem to be enjoying it apart from a few little things here and there. I probably won’t start working on a post-compo version, because I don’t really feel like it.
So as I wrote in my last blogpost, I decided upon making a stealth game.
That’s why I got started today on getting all the mechanics in the actual game. There is no featurecreep at all and there is a surprisingly low amount of features. It’s a rather minimalistic stealth game now that I look at it, but I think it is minimalistic in a good way.
After getting the mechanics in I started on level design. I first drew them out on Paint.NET and then transferred them over to the Game Maker Room Editor. Here are some of the level sketches:
And here they are in the game:
It all looks rather boring because the game lacks any sort of art. Tomorrow that will change and I will have a decent stealth game!
Ludum Dare upcoming! My fifth LD already! This is my I’m in post!
Tools
Programming: Game Maker 8
Art: Paint.NET
Music: Ableton Live + my trustworthy Roland SH-201 synthesizer
Those are generally the things I tend to use. I hope that my fifth Ludum Dare will be just as awesome, or perhaps even more awesome as my previous Dares!
See you in the IRC!
