Holy hell, what a weekend.

I didn’t think I could make a game in 48 hours. I don’t know how to program (artist, here) but the folks at RVAGameJams are so awesome that I thought I’d show up anyway. Well, it turns I DO know how to program. I can make buttons in Flash. And that is apparently enough to make a game.
So I thought. I ran into a problem very early on where I wanted the player to unhitch the dog only AFTER he speaks. I couldn’t make it work with just using movieclips and keyframes, so I found a glorious solution:

if
IF. It’s my new favorite word. I’m just in love with it. I want to take if home and hug it all night. One day I will figure out how to do else(). But for now, I’m amazed at the progress I made at this weekend’s Ludum Dare, hosted by RVA Game Jams in our fair city of Richmond, Virginia. If you want to see some actually programmy-programmer games you should see the amazing wizardry my comrades at RVA Game Jams made for LD #29.
