This is my entry, Kubka, the game I worked on for almost two days

I really wanted to do something that fitted both the themes and this is the result.

You can use the two buttons or left/right arrow keys to change the shape of the box and pass through the level

 

The games was made using:

GFX: GraphicsGale, Photoshop, 3D studio max
SFX: Bfxr, Cubase, Magical8bit plugin
ENGINE: Construct 2

Feature

Starbust (link) was a game I made for the LD #30. I made it in a little time (about 8h) using Construct 2 and it went very well placing #85 in Overall and #54 in Fun. A great result for me!

After a short period I decided to get to learn Unity engine and together with a friend we decided to remake Starbust from scratch using Unity as an exercise.

Even this time I could manage to find the time (about 8 hours with a lot of hurry) to make my entry for the competition!

The game is: Starbust

justTitle

– PLAY/RATE HERE –

Not very happy for the theme in the first time I later found a way to fit it in some kind of flappy/swing copterish gameplay and I’m very happy with that.

In the game you take control of a little alien ship who has the duty of connecting two planets with a rope (because yes.)

You fly from one planet to the other and so on while binding them with the rope.

The gameplay is pretty simple: just tap/click on screen to change the direction of the ship and avoid getting hit by the moving stars in the middle.

You can play it on any pc or try the mobile version (raccomended!) here

intro

I made it! It’s been very hard and intense this fourth LD partecipation for me..

Last time (ld #28) I had to leave it cause the first concept I’ve started to work on didn’t went very well and the time left was so little to start a new one..

This time I was afraid I was going to face a similar situation but fortunately the first concept worked well and so I could be able to take it to the end!

 

The idea was a sort of mix between tetris and a platformer, the aim of the game is to pass through a surface made of color blocks by placing other blocks on top of them and match the color to make them explode.

I had a lot of troubles to make the game engine work without problems that it left me a little time to design the different levels (i made only 10) but still I think it’s a quite difficult challenge to finish all of them without dying.

Timed Ninjas

Third Ludum Dare for me..

A very difficult theme.. it seemed intresting during votes but then when it came to think of something original it turned very hard..

Then when i was just playing around with the “10 seconds” idea I started something that was just a simple timer at first.. a timer in which you had to tick 10 seconds with an exact tempo.

Then i turned this into something more “dangerous” by putting the life of 9 ninjas in the hands of the “counter”

If you tick correctly 10 seconds you save the ninjas, if you go out of time they die!

Give it a try, i hope you’ll like it!

Ten Levels

It’s been a great pleasure to take part of the Ludum Dare compo for the second time, the game I submitted is called “Ten Levels”. Its a simple avoid-the-enemy-collect-the-something-to-pass-to-the-next-level game that I hope you will like/have fun with.

I voted and really hoped for the theme “Minimalism” to win but without a real reason (no) and when it came out I had no clue at all for the game..

Also i had to spend all saturday away from home so I spent most of the time thinking about the theme and what I could do (while everyone else around me were having fun).

It was during the trip back home that I realized that it didnt need to be closely related to the art movement or the kind of graphics, the game elements just needed to be taken to the minimal possible point.

So I decided to make a game that was playable inside a simple title screen, or better, inside the loading-level screen. It was just when i wrote down “LEVEL I” that I realized that V could have been my hero looking for I and avoiding evil L and E.

I’m a big fan of classic games like Robotron and Berzerk and I tried to put all my experience on these two games on my title, and i think somehow something went into it. I wanted it to look like a minimalist Robotrozerk that sounded like an Atari 2600.

My laziness fotunately found in Construct 2 a good friend to fast prototype and design the game, so I have to thank once again that little incredible piece of software to let my imagination turn to reality once again.

I closed the game in a real hurry during Sunday (I also found the time to watch a football match in between) and I didnt realize at first that it was so difficult to win. Almost impossible!

So I spent two more days to try and win it and finally I made it so I can show you that it is possible!

Have fun(I hope!) trying to do it yourself !

 

I’m still playing, voting and commenting as many amazing games as I can.. I really love this competition and I already can’t wait for the next one to take place!

Started thinking and reading about “minimalism” etc.. then I decided to take it litteraly and came up with this simple idea.

Finally made it!!

 

my first LD entry ever is “Woodcut Ted

a game where you play as a woodcutter trying to cut as many trees as you can without being caught by the ranger.

I could spend no more than 8/10 hours for the entire game so its very basical and incomplete..
