Harvest Dues is a match-3 style game where you manage resources to grow plants and upgrade your farm in order to pay back the loan you took out to get the farm in the first place!

Hey, folks. Looking forward to the voting results soon, but I need a few more votes to hit the mark, and I’m doing some last minute voting of my own. I wanted to do more, but I’ve been super sick the past couple weeks sadly. I’m on the mend, though so that’s a plus!

This time around I made Lairkeeper, a sort of dungeon builder / tower defense mix. Overall I think the game’s pretty decent, though I didn’t have time to implement as many spells / enemy types as I wanted. You may want to check out this short tutorial video I made as well since it’ll tell you everything you need to know to play. Hope you enjoy!

…I’m in, of course! Probly go for the Jam again for the 5th or 6th time. I’m using Unity 5 and a smattering of asset creation tools such as FL Studio, Photoshop, etc.

Special voting category for ‘friends’ of LD

I was thinking about this ‘friends’ of Ludum Dare judging debate.


What if we gave contributers to the LD community who aren’t contestants a special category to vote in. You can think of this as a separate “Overall” category for people who support this community, but don’t submit a game. Regular contestants (e.g. the developers themselves) would not have access to vote in this category. This special category could be opened up to the ‘friends’ of LD that PoV mentioned, as well as others.

Our category listing would look something like this:

  • Overall
  • Fun
  • Innovation
  • Audio
  • Graphics
  • Theme
  • Humor
  • Mood
  • Community
  • Coolness

It seems like some people are feeling like outsiders even though they’re an important part of what we do. We should do what we can to address that. If we want more people like them to take interest, we need to give newcomers a reason to spend time on us. Such a system would allow us to preserve the peer review element of the currently judged categories while allowing non contestants the ability to have their voices heard in an official capacity. I’m not suggesting we implement it for LD32 necessarily, but maybe for LD33 as part of our site rebuild.

I’d like to hear your thoughts on this!

Hey, folks! I’m in for what will be my fifth time participating in Ludum Dare. I’m glad to say that I’ve come a long way as a developer since my first entry. Now that I’m an adult and jaded on holidays, LD is my new Christmas that comes thrice a year! In between events I’ve been working on building a small YouTube channel, and due to fortunate timing, I’ve just started up an LP of an LD28 game: Titan Souls. Take a look and see what could be if you create something awesome this time around and stick with it, and congrats the Acid Nerve team for taking a great entry to the next level!

Well, it’s been a year since I started participating in Ludum Dare, and I’m just as excited now as I was then! I’m looking forward to another round of great games from everybody.

I’ll be using Unity again, almost certainly for a Jam entry. On top of that I’ve got Photoshop, Audacity, Blender, sfxr, and FL Studio at the ready.

Eating well is good gamedev fuel!  I spent the time cooking thinking about what I want to do for this round of Ludum Dare, and it seems like those thoughts are coalescing into a solid idea.  Hope everybody else is having a blast with this theme as well!

It seems to be a thing so I figured I’d show of where I’ll be spending all my time this weekend.  The two monitors are attached to my Windows machine, and then I have my Mac setup for build testing later / Tweetdeck / etc.  Can’t wait for the theme to be revealed in about an hour!
