Towers of Rage – Awesome Edition!

Thanks to you guys we have received some fantastic feedback to our Ludum Dare entry “Towers of Rage” (look here). We really appreciate every person that took the time to comment & rate.

As always when you’re tight for time some things just don’t get finished and polished as nicely as you’d like.

So, we took a little extra time and created the “Towers of Rage – Awesome Edition”. Basically this is the game we had envisioned it to be from the start. It’s amazing what a couple days of tweaking and some player feedback can do!

What has changed?

  • The game is much more challenging
  • Each enemy type has a unique battle strategy
  • We added Jump (press Space), needed to avoid projectiles
  • We added a final boss battle
  • Tweaked controls & the overall feel

We think the game is 10x more fun now and a good challenge (if you make it through without dying once, we want to see proof ;))

Towers of Rage – A minimalistic Beat ’em Up!

Towers of Rage is a minimalistic beat ’em up game in style of Double Dragon & Streets of Rage. Just in case that wasn’t obvious from the title 😉
The game was largely inspired by one of our own games “Pixel Towers” (look here) in which you build skyscrapers filled with little 3-pixel people. We looked at that and thought: Wouldn’t it be fun to be able to walk through these buildings and beat the crap out of everyone? And so we decided to make “Towers of Rage”.

Second day of Ludum Dare! Our game is almost feature complete. Only a few things left and then we can spend all day tomorrow polishing and adding finishing touches. Above screenshot is from our first level and it’s already a ton of fun beating the crap of 3-pixels.

We still got lots to do so I’m going to get back to it! Below is a sneak peek at what the second set of levels will look like. Cant’ wait to share the game with you all :)

What you can see above is a level overview for our JAM game title “Towers of Rage”. Once again we’ve decided to enter as a team and do the JAM. “Towers of Rage” will be a minimalistic beat ’em up game in style of Double Dragon and some other classics. Essentially, you’ll beat your way through towers/buildings full of little cute 3-pixel characters.

And when we say “minimalistic”, we mean this kind of “3-pixel high character”-minimalistic:

We’re actually quite happy how dynamic it feels with such a little amount of pixels. We can’t wait to share the end result with you all!
