I’m in after all? It seems so!

Thought I wouldn’t join this time since I needed to work on my commercial VR game. But woke up with itchy fingers today and here we go!
No idea what gameplay to put in to finish before sleep time. THOUGHTS?

No idea what to do with this in 5 hours

Maybe not this time, but…

still making games this weekend! Me and a friend are running a game company fulltime since the beginning of this year. As a regular jammer it’s a pity to not join this time, but it also feels great to take a weekend just focusing on our bigger game.

We just got a Steam page up, and launching Early Access in less than a month. So we’re all in now to make more content, hopefully we’ll make it!

I kind of still hope make a compo entry in whatever time I’ve got left, but we’ll see…
In any case I’ll hang around to see your games 😀 Good luck!

BOOM! More gifs of our upcoming VR game

Just realized…

the next LD is right after nordic game conference, and right before that I’ll also be going to creative coast festival (hopefully). Doing games full-time in my own game company now so it’s busy times. But HECK I’m gonna do LD anyway!

PS
If anyone’s going there reach out to me or my colleague either on LD page or twitter @CarryCastle ! I’ll hopefully have some kind of booth 😀

Sorry for being quiet for so long! Here’s what I’ve got so far anyway!

Unfortunately my planned connection to the theme didn’t really turn out to be a good game mechanic, so I’m kind of lacking the connection.
But I really wanted to keep on with this rythm game anyway, so please spare me <3

Music and sounds added!

The post-compo version of Undetected is now updated with sound effects, a brand new soundtrack and several new levels. Still need to tweak some of the levels but overall things are coming together.

A new challenge (Post-compo)

I have started to work on my post-compo version and have made tweaks for more easy controls, with less confusion about the collision areas.

And there is also a new level!
You’ll find it in the Post-compo version:

Suggestions wanted for post-compo

So, I’ve had a lot of nice comments regarding the puzzle mechanics in my entry, and I’m up for keeping on the work with more content and polishing, possibly some kind of future release if everything goes well.

But of course there are things to polish on! And I would like your suggestions.
The main critics I’ve gotten is that the input and collision is hard to grasp due to the perspective.
If anyone has suggestions of how that could be resolved I’m very thankful for your opinion.

My thought is that although totally top-down could be a more control-friendly option it makes the art style kind of tricky. Instead I thought it could be good to just visualize the collider more clearly by for example adding a distinct shadow or similar under players, aligned with the colliding area.

In case you might have some ideas, you can find my entry here, or just leave a comment below.

A delayed “I made it” post

Although I had some other things to deal with this weekend such as my birthday, I finished the game, and I managed to get a decent amount of content in too.

My first time to make a puzzle game in LD, and it was a nice experience over all. Will share more thoughts about that later on :)

Free ideas for you!

Someone should make a game where you play as the roof in tetris! Or you play as the time in mario, running out at the rate of one second per second to eventually reach the end and kill Mario.

On a side note, I’m totally not having a lack of good ideas right now!!

Just practicing some pixel art…

Really not a gfx artist, but I hope I’ll learn if I practice.

Warming up with phaser.io

Sunday, August 16th, 2015 12:51 pm

I’m in again, and I’ll try to get up to speed with phaser.io enough to reach a level that I feel comfortable to switch out unity for a while.

Here’s my playground! Chiptune and sky gfx made before by me, while the rest is done this evening.
Definitely feeling positively surprised by phaser!

My tools:

Audio
Musagi
FL studio
Audacity
(Perhaps: Jammer)

Graphics
Pyxel
Paint.NET

Code/IDE:
Either Unity or Phaser.io
Sublime text

Misc.
Coffee to stay focused when I need
Fiancée to make sure I take some breaks

Good luck! May the weekend arrive soon enough…

I decided to upload a video of the last level of my entry, in case anyone has trouble / is to lazy to actually try the game.

If you like chiptune music and physics games,

Try the game

Otherwise,

Watch the video

It is done! For now…

Here are some gifs of what I ended up with. Would have loved to put more levels but I gotta sleep soon.

Music plays a central role, so go ahead and play it yourself:

Master of Music – First Day Video

Posted by (twitter: @RobinerdMusic)
Saturday, April 18th, 2015 7:33 pm

To summarize my first day I now have game mechanics and physics mostly done. Tomorrow will be level design (as many as I can finish, but more focus on learning curve than sheer quantity), and GUI + some tweaking as necessary.

Here’s what I got now:

Oh and sorry about the horrible letterbox, quick-n-dirty movie maker conversion.

Wobbling Push-n-destroy

Posted by (twitter: @RobinerdMusic)

So what do you do? Send some insane push forces to deform the whole level and make your enemies fall to a horrible undefined death. But don’t fall out!

Not sure exactly how to keep on with this concept, but right now I’m towards a level based progress and possibly a timing score if I can manage on time.

So I’m in I guess!

Was a bit unsure of whether I could attend since I jammed for the whole previous weekend too. But still, here I am!

I’m a bit behind schedule, but this wobbling movement physics is getting really fast-paced and hack-n-slashy!
What’s next? We’ll see!
