After wasting way too much time on the landscape, I was left with a day an a half to finish the project, however, I spent most of that time trying to understand how to build a release version. Definately, learning Unreal Engine while doing Ludum Dare has not been a good idea.

The player was supposed to collect grain with stone tools, then grind it in a small stone mill, then mix the resulting flour with water and bake some bread. Alas, all that is there to actually do is walk. So, yeah, a walking simulator that fails to meet the jam’s theme.

Ended up submitting it anyway, so if anyone is curious about it you can find the link to the game’s page on itch in the entry page here:

Windows and Mac builds are not available yet, but I’ll add them tomorrow, barring any fatal problem while porting the project to my brother’s laptop.

~1st day report

Day and a half almost gone.

I’m not much of a coder, so I’ve spent the time fooling around in Unreal Engine’s editor, building the environment. On second thought, trying to use the engine for Ludum Dare while I’m still learning it might have been a mistake.

Hopefully, I’ll get to add some gameplay before the jam ends.

More than 12 hours late, lost to sleeping and thinking about what to do, I finally have an idea, so, I’m in for the jam! We’ll see how far I can get.


After having this happen to me on my previous ludumdare entry, I’m beginning to think of these late starts as a personal tradition T_T

There’s a weird bug with the animations but the game works.

First ludum dare. We got a late start, missing the 1st half of the 1st day to sleep, but we managed to get something going, time to sleep now. Less than two days to go for the jam deadline, hoping to finish it!
