A visual update on Dig Dig Dig!.  Added dynamic ambient lighting; just need to add breaking stages to the blocks and we are done for the night (AKA time for some anime).

It’s 4pm and time for the amatuer Dig Dig Dig! team to gear up into speed.
After a night of being up to 2am (watching three episodes of ‘Samurai Girls’ ; not a very good anime, I must admit) we were back into action by reading up on speculative collsions.

Our game currently contains a working title screen (with awesome music), a game where you can mine blocks (sounds too) with different hardness, randomly generated levels, a base and a player.

Today we have added in resource bar, a home base and gravity. Throughout today we are hoping to add in  random mineral veins, caves, ambient lighting, lava pockets, a shop and a small gamemode.

That is our game update. To remind you our livestreams are located at http://www.spujika.info/ld and we will be back later tonight.

Our title screenOur game so far, please ignore the base placeholder.

‘Dig Dig Dig!’ – Arcade Mining Game

About five hours into the jam, we, a team of three, fuelled on food and drinks are entering our first Ludum Dare.
With the theme of “Alone” confused us at first on how we were goign to tackle it. Then we decided to create a mining game where you dig to collect resourcesunder the ground to fuel your escape vehicle to leave the area you are (probably in space).
So far we have managed to create a dodgy title screen, with awesome title music (all made on guitar, going to add clarinet) and a random level generation, which will be updated heavily later.
We are coding it in XNA, music recording with Audacity and the graphics are made in Paint.NET.

Here is our level so far. (Two random generations)

A livestream of us working (currently only two computers) can be found at http://www.spujika.info/ld

‘Jamming it in’ LD #22. We’re in!

Hey, we are a group of three guys who are just getting out of High School. We are avid game developers and we are making this our First Ludum Dare. ‘The Jam’ is the ne we will have to take. We may not be the best, but we aren’t the worst. It’s the experience we get that counts. 😀

We should be using XNA (C#) for our game creation and Paint.NET for graphical aspects. With microphone and home-recorded noises for sound.

We hope to go well and see all your entries as well. We are just going to have to find out things on the way; such as where to submit our game for review. :p

Have fun everyone and see you at LD22. 😀
