We accomplished a lot today.  We now have collision detection between bird seeds and birds, and the birds will fly away when full.  We also have music, bird animation spritesheets, and an animated title screen.  There is still a fair amount of work to be done though:

  • Track the player’s score and display it
  • Flip the bird images depending on which way they are flying
  • Animate the birds (in progress)
  • Create an instructions screen
  • Sound effects
  • Polish

Hopefully I can get all this done tomorrow and submit a game to be proud of!

This time around, I decided to make a game for the jam rather than the competition.  My sister came up with the idea for the game, and I taught her how to make the graphics for me.  We worked for most of the afternoon and evening yesterday, and I finally have something working.

I’m writing the game in JavaScript and HTML5, and my sister is using Paint.NET for the graphics.  I plan to use Audacity and my Rock Band mic to record some music.  I’m not sure how much time I’ll have to work on this tomorrow, so I will have to see how far I get today.
