Day 2 – Izzy

Well… We have made much progress! I posted a gif of a couple animations and a small bit of art. Over the next 18 hours we will be adding the final touches (scenery, morphing (shapeshifting) between enemy types, and more animations)!

Send some LOVE if you like what you see! We have had a lot of fun so far.

Me and 2 of my close friends have decided to participate in the Jam 35!

Jake (me) – Programmer / Game Developer
Garen – 2D Artist (3D Modeling if needed)
Melissa – 2D Artist (Music if needed)

I participated in a previous dare as a solo and created “Sol Defender” which ranked #149th in the Jam (not bad I dont think)… Anyway, I had a lot of fun so I convinced my friends to join me this time! Should have nicer art and an overall cooler game to showoff at the end!

We will be using Unity for our engine, Photoshop for our artwork, and C# (Mono) for our code to make our game.

Looking forward to a fun time next weekend!

Acceptable Post-Jam Update?

Hello! After playing a couple hand-fulls of games, I have noticed a lot of the high ranked games support web players. I think with a bit more work (the loading files system) I could get Sol Defender (please rate if you haven’t) posted on my website.

My question is, what is an acceptable post-jam submission to you guys? And if you think this would not be acceptable then do you think that it would be okay to post a link in the submission description of the ‘unofficial’ web player? And finally, if both of those are not acceptable then what do you suggest?

Thanks for any reply and I really had a lot of fun during this Jam. I expect I will be back to try again next time ;).

Sol Defender FINISHED!

Well sort of =\… It is such a complicated game to make in 72 hours. I think I pulled it off (I was solo) but I was unable to make (and play-test) the levels.

Good news though! Sol Defender has a “Custom Level” choice where you can create your own levels using the in-game editor ;)… So thats fun 😀

Screen-woots!

Now lets go vote friends!

Sol Defender – Update

Okay I think a lot of the core systems are done. Now on to audio and level design :)…
The idea of the game is to defend Sol by collecting dark matter and using it to construct defenses. Its a super simple art style (Im a programmer) but I think it looks slick. The dots are stand-ins but the red dots are the enemies marching towards Sol and the blue dots are your defense pawns. You can upgrade the pawns shields (green circles) and upgrade the weapon types.

Oh yeah, the big orange line is when an enemy hits Sol’s shield, Sol fires out one huge beam that destroys all enemies in that line.

Any thoughts? Maybe some hearts :'(

Its a tower defense type game where you must protect Sol from its life being sucked away… Looking forward to posting videos of gameplay near the end of the Dare 😀
