Shapeshifter Biker

Alright, now that I’ve slept a little, time to introduce you to Shapeshifter Biker.

So in this game you’re a shapeshifter biker, all alone in a desolated world, chased by angry ducks in black trucks. To escape, you need to collect all the Animal Powers scattered across the land, in mysterious blue boxes.

Once you collect an Animal Power, you can shapeshift into that Animal for 10 seconds maximum. Some animals destroy enemies, some are invulnerable, some are scary, some can ride through lava, other can fly, some are invisible, and other are, well, surprising.

There are 20 different animals to collect, will you catch them all ?

I did everything myself, and the music is my band’s, Uniform Motion.  The songs you can hear (except for the title song obviously) are from our upcoming album, Five.

Day 1

It’s good to be doing a LD again. The last (and first) one was 3 or 4 years ago now. So after a rough start this morning, I think I’m done with most of the game mechanics. Shapeshifting, enemy AI, inventory, stuff like that. I’m now hard at work on the models of the main characters. Going for a very low poly look, for various reasons, mostly because I’m more of a 2D guy, and I’d like to save time for the 2D aspects of the game. Plus I’m doing it all on my own this time and coding some of this fun stuff took longer than expected.

So anyway, here’s Bob. Bob’s a biker.

Thanks to the really cool people at Motion Twin for having me for the weekend, it’s lots of fun.

I think I’ll go get some sleep in an hour or so. I plan on having 15 characters ready by then. Tomorrow I’ll do some level design, maybe some GUI, and it should start looking ok.

And we’re done!

All the assets for our game’s first level (out of three) are now done.

The engine is going great so far, lots of cool effects.
