Slow Progress

Slowly progressing :) I’ve got jumping almost done, and collision works much better now. I’ve got the scrolling thing working, so it actually is sidescrolling now. I reworked tilelogic a bit to make more sense and improved querying time of the tiles from linear to constant time which ofcourse is the usual way to do it. I did a graphic for the player, it looks cool. Up next are switches, advancing walls of doom, slopes, triggers and doors :) I also want to do the whole thing black and white i think, because my graphics skills suck and i don’t want to spend a lot of time on it; we’ll just see later.

I won’t bother you guys with more food for now, as i’m eating the same as yesterday. In a couple of hours i’ll post another update, and perhaps more food 😉

So, pancakes with powdered sugar and cherry jam. Im doing allright with my level editor (it requires a large reso screen :) ) and i’ve started on the game. I’m allready able to import the level i make with the editor and im now working on player logic and physics stuff.

Brown bread with ox-sausage, young cheese, peanutbutter + chocolate hail, and proper good cherry jam, and a glass of Chocolate Milk :)

Ox-sausage is tradionally a dutch treat from Amsterdam, made of ox. It also includes pepper, clove, nutmeg and some other spices, originally imported from the far-east (Indonesia) back in the seventeenth century. Chocolate hail probably is typically dutch as well, and cherry jam is just delecious as it’s got whole cherries in there.

I’ve switched from my original plan and im now using flash instead of love2d. It suits me better. Im currently working on creating a tile editor so that i can cleanly export level xmls to my game. Hopefully i’ll get it done in 3 hours time and go on with the game. I don’t have any solid ideas yet, but they all included tiles anyway so i thought i fixed that first 😉

So this is the first LD im doing, and i got some stuff setup. Heres my desk, cleaned up and ready to go 😉

As you might notice theres a book on Lua there, and I intend to use it for this LD together with love. Other possibilities are Java, C# (XNA), C++ with SDL and flash; but I thought Id learn something new, I hope it works out 😛 Other tools lying around are a wacom, a calculator, a T-Square, a scanner and earplugs (who knows I’ll be needing those :) ).

I’m going to timelapse my work with Keeyai’s chronolapse, and i’m going to try and post intermediates on my blog as well as doing small updates on Twitter.
