I didn’t have much time this weekend so it’s kindda short but still, it’s done, and I’m glad I could make it!

This Ludum Dare felt kindda lonely in my room, but it was as always great, thank you everyone!

Well, the weekend is now over and I have submitted my entry yesterday, late at night. I already made a post about it this night, but screenshot was way too small.

Actually, my idea for this game came along a comment on my previous game for ld#28. The comment advised me to take the splash screen of the game and use it to make a more athmospheric game. I thought it was a great idea and that’s what I tried to do.

Well, I have to go to work early tomorrow (here it’s 2 a.m) but I wanted to make one final level !

Warp Runner

 

I’m not ashamed of the game but I’m not completely satisfied with it either. I think I made one mistake, I accorded to much attention to the look and graphics. The background and sprite are great, but they really took me time to make and this gave me less time for level design. It would have been justified for a game based on the athmosphere (RPG for instance), but Warp Runner isn’t. When I look at it again, maybe I would’ve been better off by doing a purely abstract game with cubes and geometries. But what he heck, it was still a great experience and I don’t think the game is worthless !

On the other hand, that approach made me really work on my pixel art. And still, I designed 8 levels with some “various” features. I also learned that Unity is great for rapid prototyping. I think I have learned a lot in pixel art and also a bit in level design. I’ll try to use this wisely next time !
